4 months out today

Hi All, 4 months since surgery today. I have lost 45kg total so far. Still have 80kg ish to go. I have had stalls followed by drops and sometimes this is disappointing but the weight does move eventually to keep me focused. My measurements are all coming down and my clothes are about at the point where they are too baggy. I have been through my clothes storage and am rediscovering clothes that have been locked away for many years. I was away camping over Easter and found that I could get about a lot easier and walk uphill without feeling like I was going to die Cheers for now Halfy

2 Weeks post op and all is well

Today is 2 weeks post op. Had a dietitian appointment this morning. She was very happy with my progress including my fluid intake however I still need to work on that. The sleeve is behaving itself. I have had no drugs (buscopan antacid etc) since 15/12/14 with no issues whatsoever.... no pain, no acid, no vomiting. The only issue I have is constipation which is something I am working on. The dietitian said I can move to soft foods on a trial and error basis just to make sure I chew really well and don't try tackle a steak yet lol 21.9kg down since starting opti (total) and 7.9kg since surgery. I am expecting the weight loss to slow a little as I introduce more food back into the diet. Anyway just thought I would keep people posted. Have a great Christmas all.

10 Days Post Surgery

Hi All, So today is 10 days since I had the sleeve. So far so good. I am on puree food at the moment however I am having a shake for breakfast so as to get enough protein and other good stuff in. I have managed not to over eat however I am suffering constipation. I am taking a laxative for this to fix it up but will be adding more fiber into the diet. I haven't been game to take the dressing off the wounds. i have changed them but not quite ready yet. An interesting effect is that my belly is a lot looser and i need to support it with a pillow to lay on my side. Even then it isn't too comfortable so I have just propped myself up on pillows at night to sleep. I am off all painkillers and have been for a while. Also not taking any other meds. No re-flux or acid issues . Quite happy with that. Dietitian appointment on Tuesday and that will make 2 weeks from surgery. Cheers Halfy

D Day Tomorrow

So tonight is the last of the pre op stage. I will be getting my sleeve done tomorrow and I am first cab off the rank. Here's hoping the surgeon gets a good nights sleep . The hospital admissions called today to confirm everything and the lady said I would go from surgery to intensive care..... not sure how that makes me feel as last time I had an op they wheeled me back to the ward after recovery. I have a awkward mix of excitement and nerves. I am kind of glad it first thing so I don't have to think about it too much in the morning. On the upside I weighed myself this morning and I have lost 14.1kg in 18 days. Yesterday and today I have had nothing but shakes and vitamins because one of my big fears is them opening me up and being unable to do the operation because my liver has not shrunk enough. When I saw the surgeon I had lost 6kg and he said 12kg would be great so I guess I have done all I can. Anyway wish me luck and good luck to anyone who had theirs done today or this week. Cheers Halfy

1 Week to go and counting

Soooo this time next week they will be wheeling me in for the sleeve. As of Sunday I have lost 10kg in 10 days on opti and I have had 2 people say hey why don't you skip the op and stay on the shakes? My answer was you try live on 600 - 800 cal a day and see how long you can keep it up. lol I am looking forward to the operation (with the regular trepidation) and looking forward (probably more so) to the 4 weeks off work lol. I have asked for the video so that will be fun watching after. Anyway just excited and getting everything done around the house so I can relax. Cheers Halfy

Day 6

So I started the shakes 6 days ago. Man I had trouble with withdrawals - headaches etc but yesterday I finally came good. Yay. So in 6 days I lost 6.6kg which I am happy about. Going to see the surgeon this afternoon for my pre op appointment and he should be happy with that. Cheers Halfy PS ALdi shakes were approved by the dietitian (strawberry one tastes like nesquick yum)

First day

Well Today is the first day of the preop diet. I have taken photos in shorts and clothed and will be doing measurements tonight. My Sleeve surgery is due to occur on the 9th of December 2014. I had to visit the local gym so I could get my start weight of 231.5kg..... it seems I have put on a few kg but it is not surprising as I have been having a lot of last meals lately. I am not due to start the shakes till Tuesday the 25th November but I decided that I was better off starting on a Thursday so feeling like crap as I detox should occur over the weekend and not at work. Had my first shake at 6am and its now 7:53am..... guess I better fill up on water lol. I have steamed veg and a shake for lunch and also for dinner so that is something to look forward to. This is my first ever blog and I intend on updating weekly or answering responses as they may occur. Feeling anxious, excited and determined all at once is an interesting combination. Cheers
