Setting small goals

I have finally reached the 15kg (30%) lost mark and I'm keen to lose the next 5. :)

I'm going to set myself the goal of losing that 5kg by the end of January. That is 6 weeks, so I think it is a healthy and achievable goal. If i reach the goal, I'm going to reward myself by booking myself in for either a full body massage, or my first bikini wax! lol. I'll also take some progress photos and post. If I don't reach it, I'll get it done anyway.

I'm going to try to ensure i get my 30mins of exercise a day, which I often put off due to weather, I don't like taking my son out in the pram if it's too hot or raining obviously. I want to try and use our exercise bike more often, though I find it easier to go for a walk. The bike gets the burning in my legs going long before i can build up my heart rate, and im forced to stop much quicker than I would like. I can managed 5mins at a time before needing a break, where I can walk for 45mins on flat, uphill and downhill terrain. I'm thinking about investing in Zumba DVDS, that i can do at home whilst the baby is asleep. I love Zumba and would love to do it more than once a week.

Wondering if anybody else has reached a milestone and would like to share their next mini goal? :)

I love using an exercise bike and also get the burning in my thighs if I don't warm up properly first. Do you warm up for a couple of minutes on a low level ? I go relatively slowly, on a low level, for two minutes, which doesn't get my heartrate over about 120bpm, then I ramp it up and get my heartrate up to around 135-140bpm, without burning or fatigue.

Hey Leanne,

I'm all for mini goals, my next goal is 73kg by the end of Jan - so at the moment that's about 3.5kg. I've also started to run (don't know how that happened! LOL) so my fitness goal is to run the total route i've set out for myself by the end of Jan also - at the moment i'm just running in intervals.

Leanne,

I do zumba as a alternative to my treadmill just to change things up a bit. I have a wii at home and I have zumba dance party 2 on wii and its amazing. You get long/medium/short full classes that you can do with a "instructor" showing you the moves. You can also choose to do single songs and make your own routine. Short class is 20 mins and I tricked myself into trying a long class yesterday and killed myself doing an HOUR of it and god did my tummy and legs and arms hurt after, but it was a great burn.

If you have a wii it may be another option, I try to either do it with my 4 yr old daughter, or I will do it when they are in bed on a lower noise level as to not wake them. Its an option anyway. Ohh and it only cost $30 and came with the belt to stick the wii remote in. So it didnt cost the $100 that the original wii zumba did. And its just as good!!

Tishii - great idea, no i dont warm up, maybe i will try that next time, just start peddaling really slow for the warm up and slow build up every minute or two. :)

Chantilly - Great job on the running, I have also started jogging at intervals along my walk (when its flat and my body relaxes a bit). I would love to begin to build up to running, although it is too difficult with a pram. wish i had a treadmill for that lol. wish i had a whole home gym!!

Jaimi - Unfortunately we dont have a WII, but I have made the commitment to buy the DVDS and toning sticks next week. I found an offer online for $40, although I am waiting til I get paid again and will purchase the $60pack off the actual zumba site. Now tht I have been going to Zumba for a while and realize how much I enjoy it, I KNOW i will use them almost every day. When my son goes down for his nap I can shut all the blinds, change into my workout gear and make some room to shake my booty :)

good on you, I knew your weight would start moving soon as you have been so diligent. I have set no goals but Id like to hit the 20 kilo mark by my first appointment with the doc after surgery, that's another 2.7 kilos in 19 days. I'm not sure how my weight is going as I have stuck to my rule of weigh day being Sunday only otherwise I have a dummy spit if the scale stays put or god forbid, it move in an upwards direction, least if it happens I will only have a dummy spit once a week now. LOL.

Yep, I've stopped weighing myself every couple of days, I'm going to try not to weigh myself until my hubby is home. Since he works away for 9days between home stints it works out well I think.

I kept getting disappointed if they hadnt moved, so now i'm just avoiding them.
