    Lovelies,

    3 weeks ago I was banded and so far my recovery has gone mostly well. The transitions into purees and solids have also been easy.During the opti fast, liquid and puree stage I have lost 13.5kgs! I'm pretty happy with that so far although coming into the solids I am finding my weight is stabilizing. I haven't been doing much exercise as my clinic professionals keep telling me to heal and recover first and I have no fill yet but just wondering what everybody elses experience has been like and if its normal for it to stabilize within the solids transition?

    Hey Henry! I'm 3 weeks post op and have just started on my solids on Monday. For lunch I've been having canned fruit salad (in its own juice not syrup), tuna on 2 small multigrain crackers, I'l sometimes mix up the topping with lite cheese and avocado or egg and yogurt like you already mentioned.. I hope that has helped.

    Hey Darlings;

    Thank you for all your reply, I was glad to hear that I wasn't alone with the rib pain. I suspect that you may be right slimtamsoon, it very well could be gas bubbles. Thankfully it has passed and on the occasion I do get it, it is very mild. I did do a lot of research though as I was worried, but just like  you tishtash, I couldn't get to the bottom of it. My surgeon today said that it is all normal, so hanging in there!

    Milly and Belly, I hope recovery is treating you nicely and that you are both enjoying the purees!
     Stay Happy X

    Oh may i also add; It doesn't happen after I eat, instead is just always lingering. Since the shoulder pain decreased, the rib pain started. It feels better when pressed but very unsure.

    Hi lovelies;

    Just a quick question today; on the 14th of this month I was banded and my recovery so far has been smooth sailing;had no problems with the liquids stage and the puree stage is a breeze also! I do have the occasional shoulder pain and abdominal pain but it is easing.

    One thing I noticed yesterday was sharp pains under my left rib cage area, its quite sore to move; my port is located above my belly button and I didn't have a hernia repaired during the surgery. Just wondering if anyone else had this? Or what it it might be?

    Hi Milly,

    I'm sorry to hear that your trip home was anything but pleasant! I am glad to hear that you are feeling better though, the burps in my chest hurt aswell and they are only just starting to pass. Today at my 1 week post op appointment the Bariatric Nurse told me it was from the gas they bloat you up with during surgery, there are degas tablets you can buy at the chemist or local grocers apparently, so something to keep in mind if it gets really though apparently. Its really interesting to hear how different hospitals and clinics differ, when I asked about same day discharge SIOS Sydney Private Hospital was against it,  they strongly advised monitoring you. I am glad the nurse was lovely over the phone! Rest up well darling! XoX

    Hi Mike, my dietican is an advocate for sticking with Optifast during the liquid phase because of the lack of protein we will be consuming. So for breakfast I sip slowly on a Opti shake and made a variety of my favorite Turkish soups to sip on during lunch and dinner time. The diet plans and sheets I was also given prior to surgery say the same thing. I hope that helped a little. Dee X

    You are getting your surgery filmed? You lucky duck! I would have loved that, provided I could keep a copy of it! I was nervous about the same thing but when I woke I was too tired and sleepy to panic! Breathe darling, it will be over soon.

    Milly, you are going to do great! I was like you; nervous and didn't get a wink of sleep but the moment I got changed into my sexy backless gown I felt calm and relaxed. As you go into it keep the reasons why you are doing this in your mind, I replayed them over and over again and literally before I knew it, it was over. Stay positive! You got this Tomorrow is the start of your new life! Dream sweet and keep us all updated lovely.

    Heya lovely!

    Sounds like you have been on quite the journey! Aside from the leakage and faulty fills I am pleased to hear the band worked well for you! I wish it would have stayed that way but you sound confident with your second surgeon and thats awesome! I was banded on the same date as you, its my first time but like you am having alot of reflux! I hope your recovery goes well and my fingers are crossed your band behaves this time around. X

    Thank you all for your beautiful words and support. I appreciate it immensely, it is nice to know that when in doubt, I have this place.

    Zenadaya; you are just beautiful, your gesture alone was the kindest and I wish that we were closer! Being surrounded by those experiencing the same thing as you is often the best comfort. I do however have my mother and partner who have played a mammoth role in my support, so I should count my blessings.

    Belly; I think that your method of letting people know your situation was very courageous. I imagine writing an email filled with how your weight has impacted and diminished your quality of life wouldn't have been an easy thing to do but I am more than happy that it has helped your situation and given them a better understanding and insight into what your life has been like. My sister is a little different, we are both overweight, only a few kilo's separate us from size. Originally we made the decision together to undergo WLS,  after not getting the support from her partner and his family, she decided to take it out on me because I decided to continue on the journey myself. I understand that she is obviously upset/angry at her own situation rather than mine but it's been an emotional rollercoaster trying to cop it on the chin. We were close and I did everything in my power to convince her her health was more important than the opinions of her partners family but it fell on deaf ears. After not coming to the hospital, not wishing me well and weeks of silent treatments, she decided to pack her bags and leave home whilst spraying us with vile words the day of my discharge. I confronted her, because this was the last of it, I was finally looking forward to the next stage in my life and the fact that my health and happiness was causing my sister so much unhappiness dumbfounded me, I had never been made to feel so much guilt in my life and as a general people pleazer, it tore me apart.  My family and partner were upset with how cruel she was, expecting my brother and I to fail with the next chapter of our lives. I have lost a lot of respect for her and her partner who decided to get involved but I have come to the realization that I can't waste what little energy I have on them. This is about me, its my time to shine and I will in spite of them. My recovery comes first and i'm going to use this situation to fuel my motivation! I am the same as you though Belly, i'm very much looking forward to the puree stage, atm i'm finding living on liquids uncomfortable; come'on Tuesday!

    LauraM; You couldn't have said it any better, I do need to be confident in my decision! Thank you for the sustagen tip aswell, the hunger pangs are very uncomfortable so I will definitely try that!

    Bex22285; Thank you honey, it's nice to have some idea of when the pain will start decreasing and what to do incase it doesn't! By the way;  I love what you said "..First steps to a better you.." it's so true! And congratulations on the 21.6kgs lost, those little graphs and tables give me so much motivation.

    Thank you again to all of you, you are all beautiful!
