    Well done! You're looking great!
  2. 13 months on and I've lost 52kg and only 3kg to my goal weight! Feeling lighter and healthier than I've ever felt before. And I thought I would never say this but totally enjoying running!

Oh wow!!!  Many, many congratulations on all your hard work and achievements!  53 kg loss - that's a whole person!  AND running!  Di you ever think that this was possible pre-op?

So happy for you!  You GO girl!

Thanks Denzel :) I definitely never thought this was possible pre op. I thought I might lose some weight and take pressure off my knees before I needed yet another operation. But never in a million years did I think that I would lose 52kg! So happy and lots of people have commented how much I've changed not just on the outside but that I seem happier within myself which is nice to hear :)

    Who did you tell?

I didn't go out of my way to tell people but if they ask I've told them. I haven't had any negativity at all. I thought there might be some but my experience has been that everyone has been super supportive and amazed at the progress. It's a personal choice but you might be surprised (in a good way) at people's reactions.

    Very anxious

Hi @Lady, as everyone has already said it's completely normal to have second thoughts. I looked into having the band about 10 years ago, but I just wasn't ready mentally to make the commitment. Fast forward to now and I had the sleeve done nearly a year ago in December. I researched and asked a lot of questions but the difference this time was that I was mentally ready and nothing would have stopped me. I was ready to make a change and it didn't matter to me that it wasn't reversible(previously that was a big factor). My regret is that I didn't have it done earlier. But having said that I may not have been as successful as I have been now because I wasn't ready. You just need to do what's right for you and think about the reasons you want to have the surgery in the first place. I thought I would be one of those people who would have complications as that is generally par for the course with me medically. But I have been fortunate and my journey has been relatively easy compared to the mountain I had built up in head! You're definitely not alone. Good luck!

    Your Ideal Size ??

I started out 120.5kg and wearing mostly a size 22, but now 11 months on from having my sleeve I've lost 50kg and wearing size 10-12 depending on store and style. Ideally I'd like to lose another 5kg but I'm quite happy where I am. I never in a million years thought I would ever get down to where I am now so anything less is a bonus! Sometimes I'll still automatically go to the larger section even though mentally I know I've lost a lot of weight it still hasn't sunk in or become normal yet. Has anyone else experienced this?
  6. 9 months on and I've now lost 47kg. My weight loss has slowed but I'm happier, healthier and finally becoming fitter and embracing life!

    Who's from South Australia?

Hi Juggalette_Naomi, welcome to the forum. I'm from Adelaide too when I started I had 60kg to lose. I was sleeved in December 2014 by Dr Teague at Ashford and I haven't looked back (lost 43.5kg in 8 months). Whatever you decide best of luck!

    6 Month Post-Op Statistics!!

Wow congratulations! Amazing progress. Are you where you want to be now?

I'm now on the winners bench!

Great job! You'll find soon that none of your old clothes fit anymore. I know I was dropping a size basically every month so my tip is to only buy the bare minimum or it might get expensive fast. Good luck and keep up the good work

    Would you do it again?

Definitely! No regrets at all. Just wish that I had done it sooner.
  11. Proud to say 4 months since my sleeve and I'm over half way to my ultimate goal weight :)

  12. My journey was relatively easy. I did have some shoulder tip pain but not a huge amount. I also had pain at my drain site which they gave me morphine for but once they removed no pain. So other than that it was pretty much plain sailing. Hospital was great apart from being in the HDU for the first night as there was lots of noise from machines and neighbours on the ward.
  13. Hi SJB I had my sleeve done at Ashford on 8th Dec and it all went smoothly and my scars have been minimal. I agree with rumplebear, there's lots of info on their website have a look through it all. I know literally spent hours on that site plus here of course getting as much information as possible. Do you have a date for your surgery?
  14. Good luck Golfer hope it all goes well for you and you have a speedy recovery!
