    Before and after

Absolutely stunning transformation, and how inspiring for folks yet to have their WLS. Congratulations and very well done!
  3. Had my 4th surgiversary on the 2nd.  Down 33.79 kg from my all time heaviest, down 25.29 from when I saw the surgeon preo-op, and down 21.29 kg from day of op.  No regrets!! :)

    Day two post surgery

Yes, I think that it was due to the IV antibiotics given when I was in surgery.

You are maintaining so well @Rosemary! And, as you say - and do, and totally agree with and do myself - "Cannot stress enough it is only a tool to help you. You still have to do the hard work."

    Depressed.....

Weight gain is depressing . But congratulations on having two babies! It might be worthwhile a visit back to your surgeon, maybe they used larger bougies 6 years ago? And s a resleeve would be tenable. I'm 4 years post op next month, and I still use portion controlled crockery and tiny cutlery. I also mainly do a low carb way of eating (except for the past week!). All the best!

    Depressed.....

    Hi @Fay12

    Accountability

I was sleeved 23 months ago (i.e. nearly two years ago). Admittedly, I was very sick last year with a gut infection (Campylobacter), and dropped down to a BMI of 18.5, and 18% body fat. O.K; so here I am going to be honest and accountable. Since that gut infection has been treated, my weight has gradually increased ... particularly in the last couple of months... Yes. Alcohol. Low-carb beer ... Gin and diet tonic (so helpful for getting me through doing housework!!). I, probably like most folk, have had some carb-binges over the last month. A couple of days of eating nothing but "Grainwave" chips ... And an outstanding 2.25 kg of (Chinese) dumplings in the last two days. I have had horrendous health/energy problems last year, and haven't been active (chronic ME/CFIDS + Fibromyalgia etc. and I had really deteriorated health-wise) But this last week there has been an improvement. Today I "sucked it up" and weighed myself (after going to the loo, on an empty stomach etc). I have managed (!) to put on 3.13 kg in less than four weeks. Body fat increase of 3.6% ... And I can feel it. My arms feel like sausages bursting out of their skins, and my thighs are rubbing. My boobs are bursting out of my bra. I have jumped up a couple of clothing sizes. I had got down to a size 4/6 (I am only 5" tall - about 153 cm), and am now busting out of size 8. So. This is it. I have started this new thread, called "Accountability". 1. I am going to be more diligent to weigh myself more frequently. 2. Bye-bye low carb beer. 3. Move more. 4. Update my details and progress.5. Get to see dentist to have sensitive teeth treated ... this has been preventing me from "20, 20, 20". Numerologically, for me this is a "power year". So it is up to me to make the most of it.

    Complications

Following on from my recent barium swallow demonstrating "mild to moderate dysmobility" in my oesophagus along with "tertiary contractions" (causing severe oesophageal spasm and hold up at the junction between the oesophagus and the stomach) I had a "gastroscopy" this week. Anyway, the results of the Gastroscopy (I had wondered why it was being done, considering I thought that we had a diagnosis via the barium swallow ) were - to me - a bit shocking. The Gastroenterologist (Dr Peter Evans) came to see me before discharge and I think that he was even outstanded at the results, considering how non-complaining I am. I saw the pics, which he was sending to Dr Stephen Watson - my original bariatric surgeon who referred me to him following the result of the barium swallow. And, being a non-Gastronterologist, they were ugly. Really ugly. Anyhoo, results of FYI: "Findings Oesophagus: There were broad and thin linear reflux ulcers extending 8 cm above the OG junction. The remainder of the oesophageal mucosa appeared normal. The SC/OG junction was located at 35 cm, above a 3 cm hiatus hernia; there was no Barrett's change. Stomach: The stomach was tubular consistent with sleeve gastrectomy. The fundus, body and antrum were otherwise normal. Duodenum: The cap and the loop were normal. Conclusion: Severe ulcerative oesophagitis. Coincidentally I had a double appt with my GP this am, and showed her the copy of the report. She was somewhat gob-smacked as well! She's commenced me on Pantaprazole 40 mg twice day for 2/51, then to drop back to one daily. Weight yesterday fasting, naked 48.71 kg, BMI 20.6 (then I went to the loo twice after). At GP today fully dressed including shoes, 48.5 kg

    Complications

I had a blood test for Helicopylori bacter antibodies on the 20th December, and it's come back positive, so my GP has commenced me on the treatment. I will need to do a breath test in about March to see if I am clear.

I'm hoping that everyone had a very enjoyable Christmas as I did :). I got my days mixed up and weighed myself yesterday instead of today - 47.99 kg, down 740 gm in six days! BMI 20.36 I had to fast last Wednesday for the gastroscopy, and didn't eat much that day. The results weren't good. "Severe ulcerative reflux oesophagitis", and a 3cm hiatus hernia which hadn't shown up on the barium swallow. The gastroenterologist showed me the photos - they were ugly, really ugly. Anyway, I made up for not eating much all week, yesterday. I spent the day eating! Heaps of seafood and fruit. Yum!

Well, it's Weigh in Wednesday and today I am about 48.3 kg, BMI 20.5, body fat % 24.3 Off to see my Bariatric surgeon today (he wants to see me). I have developed oesophogeal motility problems, "Mild to moderate dysmobility with variable hold up at the gastro-oesophageal junction, but no fixed stricture/obstruction . The gastric sleeve remnant appears somewhat capacious".
