I celebrated my 2 year ‘sleeveaversary’ yesterday. Yay me!

My weight this morning was 79.1kg which is a loss this week of 900g. This is my biggest weekly loss in months. My total weight loss is 59.9kg and what a difference 2 years makes.

Well done Boganlicious. You’ll be under 100kg before you know it.

Many, many congratulations @Millymollymandy on your 2nd "Surgiversary!" and your outstanding weight loss!

I’m barely getting enough of ANYTHING. Struggling to get any more than a life of fluid in each day. Cannot stomach Optifast so moved to Soup which is nice but takes 2-3 hours to get though 150mls. I have a sugar free up and go in the morning then soup at lunch and protein milk at night with Powerade zero in between. Still, I can’t get past 1litre each day and it’s only 400 calories so my energy is super low.

Does anyone have any fantastic purée recipes????  I start on Tuesday.

There are some super recipes appropriate for every stage of bariatric post-surgery in Sally Johnsons' "Your Complete Guide to Nutrition for Weight Loss Surgery".

    https://dietitianconnection.com/products/books/your-complete-guide-to-nutrition-for-weight-loss-surgery/

I think that this should be a compulsory purchase for every bariatric patient.

  3. I have weighed in today, but I had had about 1 litre of coffee = 1 kg.  So on the scales I was a kg up from last week.  Body fat and hydration %s about the same.  I might weigh myself again tomorrow am before coffee and after using the toilet!

I'm ok. Woke up in recovery feeling like a bus had hit me. Not as bad now. Surgeon found an internal hernia down low from my c sections so one day I'm going to need to fix it. I keep waking up.

Managing to sip sip sip but omg the heartburn! Plus sometimes it feels weird. I just want to gulp as my mouth is so dry.

Welcome to the other side!  I'm pleased that everything went well.  I spent all day yesterday thinking of you and wondering how you were.

Quick question - rings (wedding/engagement) while in hospital, yes or no?

No probs -  Nursing staff will cover them with tape e.g. "Micropore"  if they are worn.  This is to lessen the risk of them being caught on anything,  and them being a conductivity (electrical) risk.

I saw the Dietitian yesterday, and all went well to receive some guidance.  Combining LCH(Healthy)F and bariatric.

    QUESTIONS FOR DIETITIAN 10_05_2018

    • Count calories - or not.  No
    • Have snacks - or not? Yes, to get protein in.
    • To eat or not if your'e not hungry? Yes/no
    • Amount of protein? 1.5 gm/kg body weight = 80 gm/day (but don't be obsessive)

my sleeving dietitican Jo Anne Dembo  advised me for me to be 50 kg, to have daily 50 gm protein, to be 45 kg to have daily 45 gm protein.  Yet a long-term sleever on an American site has 80-100 gm daily, and the last thing I read said 70 gm. (I am turning 55, post-menopausal, female, have had ME/CFS for nearly 22 years and am very short).

    • Macros, what to count. Protein
    • Resources - books?  Apps? Easy Diet Diary
    • Meal planning.  We looked at my "Count The Carbs" by Amanda Cross, dietitian thought that it was a good book, and the Fast Track program which she thought was most suitable.
    • Metabolic Testing - booked in for next visit
    • Body Composition Analysis - BIODY Coach Body Composition Analyser  - done.  Basically all good, just need to increase muscle mass.

Oh god @zaruse I hadn't even thought about those stocking things! :D I tend to be hot rather than cold, too, and I can't stand having anything on my feet while I'm in bed or I cook.

Make sure that your legs and feet are well moisturised with a pH neutral/balanced product - this helps with the dry skin = hot legs/restless legs.  Also ensure that you body wash products are  pH neutral/balanced product, and moisturise after.

  9. Oh, that over-eaten/drink feeling!  Nausea, uncomfortable yuck!  I actually have to lie down I feel so terrible!  My lesson I HAVE to learn is chew, chew chew.  Take a break.

@Millymollymandy - I'm pleased that you found a way to manage your dilemma!

BTW I delayed going onto normal texture solids because I didn't feel ready as well.

i eat (drink) and feel sick/full. I don’t eat and I feel sick and windy. How long will it take to settle???

@zaruse  - does your Surgeon have you on medication (a proton-pump inhibitor) for stomach acidity?

  10. A day late - again!

Despite having a binge on "normal" i.e. not gluten free nor low carb coated salt and pepper squid, *jiggetty jig* I am down 1.2 kg this week!   to 52.16 kg, BMI 22.13.

50 kg is my first goal, which is nearly a 10% total body weight loss from my recent heaviest.  I have lost 5% from then.  But of course I am going to keep on moving the goal posts  downwards ...

I have an appointment today with a LCHF dietitian - not the one I was wanting to see as she is off on maternity leave, but one at the same practice.  I have placed a reservation on a book at the local library for "The Keto Reset" by Mark Sisson, and if I like it, I shall purchase it.  I shall check out what resources the dietitian today recommends, apps etc.

Boganlicious, don’t stress about slow weight loss pre op. This time is all about shrinking the liver for a safer operation and that is not dependent on the amount of weight you lose. Weight loss (if it happens) is just an added benefit of the pre op diet.

@Boganlicious - totally agree, as would your Surgeon.
