  1. Still have another 24kgs to go BUT it's been a massive effort so far. I still don't think I've changed that much then I look at these and remember how painful it was being 22 years old and 140-150kgs. Mentally and physically its the hardest thing I've ever done, but I wouldn't change it for the world.
  2. Hey Bel, Personally, im having now just 0.1-0.2ml put in every monthly visit. I'm losing above average weight, so I think going small amounts is great for easing into it. I got too much fill on my second fill and I felt like crap for three days until I got some taken out. Youll get to know your band very quickly! And with what leya said, time of the month is the worst also hot days the band is sooooooo tight. It's bizarre! Goodluck with your journey! Xx

    Weigh In Wednesday

Hey guys, I'm down 33kgs as of today and it's my six months since surgery. Got 25kgs more to go! Hope you are all well.
  8. I thought I'd give an update on measurements. I got my old personal trainer to send me my measurements when I was 143kgs. Here are the results from 143kgs to 107kgs: Bust -22cm Waist -27.5cm Hip -18.5cm Right arm -10cm Left arm -4cm Right thigh -9.5cm Left thigh -13.5cm Total -105cm My tummy and bum are the biggest thing people mention to me. For the last month I've been feeling really shitty about myself (excess skin) and I thought this would help me a bit in proving myself how far I had come. The biggest surprise for me was my legs! I didn't think they looked any different but I'm glad I have photos and measurements to keep motivating to move forward. If I could give advice to anyone who is about to get lapband, it's take photos and do measurements. It's worth it.
  9. That's amazing tamy!!!! Don't listen to what others say, just do what you gotta do to get the job done, in your own time. Good work xoxo
  10. I find in the afternoon I'm hungry, when I get home from work I'm starving. I'll have a piece of celery or light crackers until about 2 hours later I'll have dinner. Sometimes I've over indulge and have wayyyyy more when I get home from work and then be too full for dinner!
  11. Haha! I'm eating tuna and avo as we speak!!! Still my favourite!! Holidays are a bugger, aren't they? You want to relax but you still need to think about what you're eating! Im doing ok, my weightloss has slowed. I'm down to 107kgs - 32kgs lost since my first consult. 5kgs lost this month. I have been SO LAZY with gym because it's been hot at work and I'm buggered when I get home.

    What changed?

The difference for me is physical restriction with my band. Before my band...I could eat whatever, whenever! I didn't think about it, if it tasted good, I ate it. My biggest thing was carbs. I loved pizza, burgers, pasta, snitzels etc. so I knew the band was right for me. Because now I physically have a barrier between me and food, I don't even bother trying to eat things I know are bad because they can and will get stuck, so what's the point in shoving your face full of food when it's just going to come back up anyway? For me, that is the biggest plus of the band. My mind has to always be on the ball. Will this fit? Is it worth it? Do I need to eat this? And if I answer yes to all then PB, I know my limits for that type of food. I'm still learning about what I can and can't have. Somedays I just want to rip the bloody thing out but most days are a lot easier and nothing goes wrong. No regrets though, it was worth every hard earned cent. Good luck!

    The Hot Weather

Yep, me too! I can't eat nearly as much as I would on a cold or mild day. If I get stuck on a hot day, I'll normally chew on ice cubes and have heaps of water. I find it's the only thing that keeps me going if I get stuck.

    Super release!!!

Hi boganlicious, first things first, roll over that extra super into one account ASAP. You're wasting money on fees for both accounts. When you get the money it goes straight into your bank account, cold hard cash. Then it's up to you to pay the invoice that your surgeons office sends you. On the day (for me anyway) I had to pay at the front desk for hospital fees. They also take your details down in case they have to charge for anything extra. The barium swallow bill is sent in the mail. Hope this clears up a few things !
  15. No bloody tests Jo, she said it's completely normal. I don't mind it, it's just annoying in the shower and having to pick up hair out of the drain every day! I miss being able to just eat a burger and pizza so bad, I want some but I know I physically can't and it will just make me so sick. I even think that if I had the band deflated and then ate bread, I would be so sick. I just smell it, that's enough for me, and just eat my tuna and avo hahaha.

  17. Well done Jo, you are amazing! I managed to lose about 4kgs over Christmas break, sweating my bum off in the garden but I put on a kilo this week because I have my period I can't wait for another fill, which I'll be getting in a few hours. Ive been really hungry but trying to be good on opti for lunch and relatively healthy dinner (can't stomach salad for some reason). Hair loss is a big concern for me at the moment because I'm losing quite a bit. I have heaps of protien but it doesn't seem to be helping. I'll ask the doctor about it today. I just keep thinking, I'm now half way and if I've come this far then I can lose the other 30kgs!!! Come on 2016!!
  18. Don't worry guys, it's open. They must have been on lunch!
  19. Can anyone tell me when CBS open again? I forgot when my next appointment is and no one is answering the phone. I have a feeling it's Monday but I can't remember. Thanks, Meg

    What's the first step?

No worries if you've got the cash then you're set! All appointments and fills are bulk billed except your first consultation at CBS which is $140 and $70 of that is Medicare. I may have to go back to my GP in a year or so and get another referral but no biggie. Tax wise - when you withdraw from super it's counted as income! So on top of my work wages I've been taxed on super as well! I probably won't be getting anything back this year but oh well. I'll have to ask my mum about the over $2000 comment (she's a tax accountant) I'll let you know. I didn't do the whole seminar thing BUT when you make your first appointment at CBS they send you a package with an info sheet you need to fill out and a DVD which has a seminar on it explaining everything. At my consult with dr burton he gave me the lapband book and I read it in a day. It really helped me make my decision final.

    What's the first step?

Hey swanny, I'm in south east Melbourne and went to CBS and had Dr Burton. His a fantastic surgeon, a man of few words, but he knows his stuff. I self funded through my superannuation for lapband. Approximately 11k plus 23% tax on top of that. I had my first appointment in late July, super took under two months to approve and was in for surgery late September. its been just over 3 months and I'm down 28kgs and now at my half way goal. It's worth every cent. Everyone at CBS is awesome, no judging, full support and amazing Drs who are there when you need them. Don't be afraid to ask me any questions about the super or surgery process, we are all an open book! Meg
