  1. Well I am no stranger to Optifast as I have had to have it 2 times for 2 weeks each time prior to lapband placement surgery and also I quite like them blitzed up with ice, fridge cold water and a drop of peppermint essence (I am a strange one as most hate optifast). But since they seem to have changed the formula I now get the runs from 1 shake (it just goes right through me) and TMI again my poo's are floating. This has been happening after every shake (breakfast one) for around 4 weeks, If I don't have one my poo is normal. So any how I see surgeon Thursday to get a date to remove this dam band that causes me issues and then have the sleeve done in 3 months, but I know I will need to be on Optifast for at least 2 weeks prior to sleeve operation so was hoping to hear if anyone else has had this issue and what you did about it or any other options. I will of course bring it up with my surgeon too.

    Considering Sleeve after Band Removal

Thanks Kazbo have chatted with surgeon quickly and he says sleeve but will chat more at my next appointment about it. I would love to be under 90 kilos, sounds like a dream lol

    Considering Sleeve after Band Removal

Thanks Kat1974 Restaurants are not on our frequent list anyway and really for me my weightloss means more than eating out. May be I can just have a small bit of DH's plate the few times we eat out :-)

    Considering Sleeve after Band Removal

Forgot to add I also have asthma
  5. Hi all, I am on my 2nd band (long story) but weightloss is pretty hit and miss and my surgeon suggested revising to the sleeve. What I want to know is the people that have done this the good the bad etc and it it better. What you eat now compared to the band? Was the weight loss slower after sleeve as you have already been banded. Surgeon has said he would remove band and then 3 months later do the sleeve. I am sure I will think of more questions but for now any answers, experiences would be appreciated. I was 147.5 kg when banded Sept 2005 with at 10 cm band (only ever had max of 1ml in band) Had weight loss to around 116 kg Had 2 pregnancies with DS being born 2008 and DD 2011 Stayed stable around 130 kgs Had eating issues dec 2013 that ended up in fluid issues Jan 2014 had barrium swallow that showed slight slip and band to tight with no fill in Had band removed Jan 2014 Put on 20 kilos :-( Looked into sleeve surgery, but my surgeon was not doing them at the time and hubby felt better about me having a 2nd lapband instead of sleeve Nov 2014 had 14cm band installed Weight loss was good at 15 kilos (including 7 on opti before surgery) Then bam no more weight loss, tried different fill levels some left me vomiting a lot so had .5 ml out. Put on weight again till I am now at pre surgery weight (before opti) :-( weighed in at 150 kgs at surgeon office on Friday 8th April Now researching options of sleeve (my surgeon doesn't do by pass) I have a strong history of diabetes (mum is type 2 and I had 2 pregnancies with gestational diabeties) so its just a waiting game for that, I have sleep aponea, and depression as well as hip bursitis (had cortosine injections in them 1 month ago).

    Over Fill or Just Swelling?

Hi All, Ended up having .5 ml out, back to eating everything and weight went up slightly again, so back in with the .5ml and into my 3rd week and have settled in well this week. But not losing weight, head hunger is doing me bad.... need to get real and join the losing side again. I know I am eating all the bad things ..... but need to stop.... somehow. The joys of us overweight peeps.

    Over Fill or Just Swelling?

Thanks for the replies peps, all ok so far no fill removed coping ok. I am eating about 1/2 - 3/4 cup at most for meals, slowly and most of the time all is ok. Cakes, bread etc are a no go (good in some ways). I have to be careful and eat slow and chew well, all that we are told to do anyway. Weight is going down slowly so all good :-)

I think it's not working for me?

Missy_belle I think you have hit the nail on the head there..... we all do slip up at times but we are all human and you just get back on the band-wagon (pardon the pun) and keep going. I have always found a treat once in a while keeps me sane.

    Over Fill or Just Swelling?

rumplebear that was what I was thinking...... wait a week and see and if issues still get .5ml out Just having an optifast now
  10. I had my 4th fill on Thursday, 1 mil extra so now have 7.5ml in a 14 cm band. My question is..... how long till it should settle and I know if I am over filled or right? My surgeon seems different to others BUT he says mushy after fill then normal food from next day onwards. So following his rules and my usual I had 2 small scrambled eggs and only ate 1/2 and was a little stuck so PB'd a some up. Yesterday (Friday) I slowly ate and chewed brown lentils with chicken from a kebab and managed about 1/2 a cup, was slow going but did not get suck. Last night had Salmon and a crunchy Asian type salad and only managed 1/4 and yep stuck so PB'd. I am not hungry in the morning until lunchtime so far which is great. But I also know they usually loosen a little so when should I be concerned and go see surgeon to get a little taken out or know if its ok? Fluids are ok so far, so keeping up my water intake. Last time I felt like green zone was there or so close but then it settled down and was hungry and needing a fill. Hope this one settles soon too.

I think it's not working for me?

I was banded in November and lost 12 kilos and was feeling better and happy about that but then since Christmas/New Years I have put weight on even with fills and have not been able to shift it. I feel like I have lost my mojo and just need that scale to move downwards again to get me inspired but that isn't going to happen with out me working on it and hmmm quietly I have no inclination at this stage. Might not help that I have a sinus and chest infection at the moment. I need to get my fat butt into gear and make that scale move..... any one know where to find that thing could motivation?!!!

Fill went well, had 3.5 mls put in. Had to have some fluid sucked out from around port area first then the fill, so had 2 needles in total. mush tonight (so had scrambled eggs) and feeling content. Back to normal foods tomorrow yay. I had put on under 1 kilo but total lost is around 12 then so happy with that. Will be more now we are filling the band to that sweet spot we all crave.

Hello All, Been a while but I have been busy and got a new laptop so only just now logging back in :-) Been busy with the kids and at home. Had a massive day last week and cleaned out my 6 year olds room and vacuumed it and then did my 3 year old daughters room.... I was stuffed after that and had a sore lump under my left breast (all good now). So my lovely DH told me via text message to rest and do no more, I wanted to clean the family room and make my sons bed (as I had stripped it) but was told no hubby would do it that night. Then the next day I cleaned up the family room, but slipped on a toy and fell to the floor doing the splits..... ouch. Limped around that day but other than sore strained muscles for 3 days I was ok. Funny the cleaning has now halted after that :-) Have my first fill tomorrow night (need it) as I am hungry and have put a little weight on (under 1 kilo) i think. But not stressing yet. Getting organised for Christmas.... Lunch at our place then tea at my sisters. Glad to see you are all going well. Will try to be regular again on here.
