    January 2013 Bandits

Hi Guys, As per Kylie an update is a good idea. I had my 3rd fill last Thursday and Whoa I now know what this is all about. Just learning to chew chew chew is the biggest issue. I had become complacent previously as I haven't had too much trouble but now with this last fill I am losing again and feel awesome. I have been gymming it the last two months and feel I am getting better at that every week. I hope everyone else is travelling well and enjoying their success

Hey Jandits, I hope everyones cruising along nicely. Kate, that's terrible, I red your message on here the other day and I just felt so dissappointed for you I hope you are doing alot better now. I had my first fill the other day 4ml, I was a bit apprehensive about the needle but all went well. My next fill is scheduled for 1 months time unless I start suffering the dreaded hungries. Yesterday I reached my 10kg mark and dropped below 120kg so I am sooooo over the moon about that. Bring on the next 10kg mark and to crack the 110kg. I started at the gym last week and currently just doing treadmill, bike and cross trainer. Keep on keeping on Jandits

Hi Jandits, I hope everyone is doing really well. I am two weeks post op today and Monday just gone was my worst starving day. I had an appointment made already to see my dietician yesterday and she has put me back on track. I had conflicting info on when to start mushies, soft food etc but I should still be on mushies and she has set me up for 6 small meals a day. I seem to work a lot better with a controlled schedule and know exactly what I can have when. I am not due for my fill until the 28th of this month so fingers crossed all will go smoothly until then. I have also started walking my dog again for about 30mins a time. I am stoked also as I have lost 8.4kg to date and I don't think I have ever lost that much in 4 weeks especially knowing that it is now gone for ever. Wishing you all continued success

Hi Jandits, I got home from hospital yesterday. Dr Treacy here in Darwin seems to keep his patients in for two nights which I think in the end is a blessing in disguise. I feel fantastic. Unfortunately my sister who came to look after me got a horrible stomach bug and I wasn't even sure if I was going to be able to come home or not. Anyway Dr gave all clear and I had to drive us home lol, no biggy as I was feeling well enough anyway. Anyway I have been so lucky to not have suffered too much pain. I had tightness in my chest and back when I was in hospital but nothing too bad. Seemed to really escape the worst of the gas pain and I can sleep normally on my side and back easily. I guess the worst pain I got was by the end of last night which was tightness around my port which was probably moving around alot more yesterday. I have endone if I need. I also have a different story with my dressings, I have to change them each time I have a shower. So on liquids for the week and then onto the next step. Definitely no regrets so far. I hope you are doing well Kate and I hope all other Jandit's journeys are going well

    Newbie

Hi Smiley, I'm Beth and I too am 38 and have struggled all my life with weight, sounds like we have the same story in that regard. I have dropped a lot of weight a few times and regained my confidence and then gained it all back and lost my confidence. I believe I have made the right decision to be able to keep the weight off when I lose it. My encouragement is that my sister was banded almost 3 years ago and has lost over 60kg. We live in different parts of Australia but I have seen first had how this has changed her and her life all for the better. She is on this site as Lisa T and has some good stuff on her profile about her journey. I don't have my band yet but am booked in for it on Wednesday, my goal to be looking and feeling fab in just over 12 months time for my 40th. Ultimately in the end it's your decision

Hey Kate, I am being in banded in Darwin. Sooo can't wait, I am very over this optifast. I too have done it before and only lasted 3 weeks but I still gave myself days off in between, this time around I have stuck to it like glue and it's getting my band that is keeping me on it. Yep only two days, and congrats on you 3kg down I am 5.5kg down so it's a good head start. I hope you have seen the last of that bug. There were a few people at work last week with colds and flu's and I was trying to avoid them to no end. We were close to a cyclone warning the other week (the weather QLD now has) and I really had to think about what I would get for the cyclone kit, anyway I got V8 fruit juice boxes and up and goes and I still have left over optifast so that should get me through and for mushies I am already looking forward to mash potato & scrambled eggs lol I am extremely lucky my sister is flying in tomorrow night who also has a band (almost 3 yrs now). She is coming to look after me for 10 days so she will see me through the first part. I have also ordered the book Knife Fork and Band which I am waiting for it to arrive and I found out my surgeon is using this book as a guide also. I am a little bit lucky as I live on my own so I only have myself to look after. I am feeling pretty calm about it all at the moment but I guess it will probably hit me the night before or that day. However it's all for the best. I have struggled with my weight all my life and seeing my sister who was in the same boat and how she is now, 60kg down, gives me alot of encouragement to know that everything is all going to be ok. Where abouts are you getting banded? Bring on Wednesday!!!! Beth

Hi SK8 We are on the same day yay!!! I haven't had any problems with optifast but I have just about had enough, I think the old me would of fallen off by now but I am so focussed knowing the purpose of it for the op. Maybe it's something in the ingredients that's upsetting your tummy Not long to go now Beth

I have just purchased this book online and waiting for it to arrive in the mail but found out today my surgeon uses it as a guideline also. So glad to know I was on the right track lol.

Hi Sez, Reading through all these posts myself it seems all Surgeons do things differently. I have also seen that others haven't had to do optifast either. I have to do it two weeks prior to the operation. The purpose as it has been explained to me is to shrink your liver for the operation as they have to work around it and if it is enlarged it is more difficult. I had to have an ultrasound on my liver the other day checking for gall stones but I am guessing all is ok as nothing was said to me when I went back to the surgeon for my second review. Goodluck for the 24th
