  1. Hi everyone, I wonder if anyone else has had similar thoughts but... I am scared that because we are all concentrating on what we eat, and its timing and how much we eat etc that we could be setting our selves up for eating problems? I don't know if its just because I'm a new bandit or if people who have been banded for much longer still have this thought but this I guess is how it all starts? Our surgeons give us a goal weight, and we have our own personal goal weight which often seems to be about 5kg's lower... Has anyone else thought about this? Jen xx

    December 2012 Bandits

Hi December buddies, Congratulations on your achievements so far! I've had issues from day 1. Lately it doesn't seem what I eat, how well i chew it or how long between bites - I'll PB it anyway ...about 80% of the time. I will probably throw up 5 out of every 7 days. I'm so sick of it (excuse the pun). I'm losing weight so slowly (max 300grams per week?) that the only reminder I have that I have a band... Is that I've constantly got my head over the toilet bowel, being sick all the time. *MF SIGH* I'm finally back at 5ml in my 12-14ml band. Last time I went over 5ml I went into the red zone... So my appointment on Wednesday shall be interesting. Or shall I say the outcome? BTW - I have found I actually get some sort of signal when I eat at lunch (its not a full feeling... It's more of a don't take another bite or I'll come right back up feeling), but get nothing at dinner time? Do any of you get a similar feeling? Jen xx

    Good Sign - Full feeling

I can't wait to feel this! I get it... Maybe once in every 4-5 weeks I feel it. Congrats on getting to your sweet spot!

    Caulfield walking buddy

Hi Claire. Where about's is Sarah in north Caulfield? Ie: closest intersection? (Caulfield is a big and confusing area for those who don't live in or near it!) Also her age? I'm just in Ormond, off North rd not far from the station.. Up near the booran rd/ north rd intersection. I'm not in great walking form atm but will be hopefully soon (need a hip replacement!) and am always willing to meet others, especially as my banding journey hasn't been so "smooth". If you like - PM me and I'll pass on my email address if you and Sarah would like? Take care, Jen
  9. Hey everyone, I'm having a "I hate my band" week and seem to not be able to keep anything down. Thing that have stayed down have been risotto(?), lasagne, spinach and ricotta canaloni... (Things id rather not eat, but were available for me to have). But everything else I've tried to eat, chicken thigh..., healthy wraps, salads, roasted AND STEAMED vegetables all come up. I was even sick at a funeral service today because a ham salad finger sandwich didn't go down.... Now trying to reach the bathrooms when the area is full of ladies and gentlemen above the age of 85 was quite difficult. It's not so easy for them to just "move" out of the way. Stuff that should go down isn't and stuff that shouldn't go down or should BE put down is staying down. There doesn't seem to be any "trigger" to it... It is all completely random and I have no idea about what to do about it. **I'm due to see the banding dr next week for another fill.. I'm currently 4.7ml in a 12-14ml band. When I'm hungry and can keep food down I can eat a lot. Or shall I say I eat what I should in term of amounts... But I want more and am generally hungry within an hour later. And I'm generally not hungry during the day. If you have ANY suggestions I'm all ears. Thanks, Jen x

    dieticians = useless?

I feel a similar way as Krees. I do see a lapband dietician - at my choice... And I probably won't continue to see her after the care plan from the GP runs out (+ she's pregnant and looks like she's only a month or two away.) I feel like I have a pretty good solid background in nutrition from my university studies, so originally prior to banding went into dietician appointment with both ears shut thinking I knew it all, but I'm always open to the possibility of learning something new. Which is why I proceeded to see a dietician post banding. Have I learned anything I didn't already know... No, not really but she's given me some interesting meal ideal plans... As to types of an how many proteins/grains/carbs etc per meal and what qualifies as of which. This I found interesting. I think you need to be open to suggestions sometimes. Especially if its included and then use your best judgement.

Band not tight but sick anyway

Thank you for all you thoughts and input
  12. Damn hormones. But my bands back working again... Ie: I'm not bringing up every meal.

Band not tight but sick anyway

Yep. Defiantly hydrated. It all seems to be working now... I've been able to eat 4 meals without bringing anything up. Hormones! It was damn hormones. I no longer hate my band!

Band not tight but sick anyway

Hi Missy_belle! Thanks for your reply! I do appreciate it. I know my bands not tight because nothing has changed except where I am in my cycle. I also confirmed it today that I'm at the point where I'm fluid retentive and because of where I am in my cycle it makes everything tighter. I have only lost 400grams in the last week... Or 9 days rather. And when I have been in the red zone, I lost 2.5kg in 6 days. I have tried a variety of different foods - much more than what I had listed in the first message and still PB'ing during some point during the meal. I see my banding dr. on Wednesday, if things don't settle I'll move my appointment and have fill removed.

Band not tight but sick anyway

Thanks hun, yeah I can't wait to catch up with you either. I'm leaning towards hormonal too, especially as this is one of the first times I haven't tried to skip my period...and just followed the course of the pill. Normally I skip it because its so much hassle with my hip but I've been getting breakthrough bleeding... So I've just gone with it. So this is the first proper cycle I guess? Which is why I'm leaning towards hormonal and not jumping in to have fill removed.
  16. Just got food down without being sick for the first time in a week! Hallelujah.

Band not tight but sick anyway

Ok just successfully got down a crumbed chicken thigh. It's taken about an hour with really small bites though. At the beginning I felt like I could of been sick but I took some time, waited and had a sip of water.

Band not tight but sick anyway

I've seriously damaged my neck from vomiting! I can't turn my head and I can't even move my eyes to my right side without horrendous pain, let alone turn to look ove my right side. Gosh I've had a horrible week. First thing tomorrow I will go see my chiropractor and get my neck sorted - (i have complete faith in my chiropractor and know she wont even touch me if she thinks something is not right... luckily i actually had an x-ray of my neck on wednesday! because ive got random pain in my collor bone) and then I may ring CBS. My appointment with CBS is Wednesday but if things don't settle I'll make it earlier. I have tried what seams like everything HairBand. I've tried a variety of different foods, I've tried changing times between bites and the amount I chew. Do you have an meal idea? I'm open to anything at this stage! Thanks Lib - I questioned maybe my activity during the last week was why I couldn't keep anything down, but the dietician didn't seem to think that was the cause... It was defiantly a cause ( -finally be able to socialize) to eat more - but I didn't. Today I tried (and then brought up) sushi -which is normally ok!!, then some fresh baked fish which also came up but I was able to come back and finish. I'm sorry for any guys that may read this but could it be hormones? On Sunday I moved into the sugar pill stage of being on the pill then my period came on Tuesday - which is when the food not staying being down has been its worst.
  19. I'm still dancing like nobody's watching.

  20. Sorry double posted.
  21. Hi, I have always wondered what warrants a warning point and also how do you know if other users have any? Clearly its not something I would like to get, but my eye is always drawn to it when ever I see one of my posts and it makes me curious as to what warrants a warning point? Obviously the first reason I can think of is abuse to another person, but what else? Can we tell if other users have been given warnings? Curious??? Thanks
  22. jen16

    Curious about warning points

Thanks ladies! Just the answer I was looking for. I'm so greatful for this forum site as well. If I had gone through banding pretty much blind... (Which you can if you go through the public system as there's very little to no support) I would be very frustrated to say the least. It's not just the information and feedback of the question asked on these forums that's great, its also the people behind those words that have been so great to talk to and even meet. I agree the fact that it stays on topic et al, it great too, and that there are no such thing as a silly question because we are all going through the same thing at different phases of our life with different experiences. A definite big thumbs up and thank you to Andrew for hosting the site. (I often say I have Swiss cheese brain because I'm on a fair bit of pain meds and sometimes the most obvious stuff can be forgotten so advertising and such didn't even enter my mind when thinking about it.) Thank you for answering my question ladies

Is there a problem with 'likes'?

Same here. It goes to that particular post but doesn't show that 'X,Y & Z' like this post.
