Oh the dramas I’ve had since I was banded 5 years to the day! Firstly I had to have my Gall Bladder removed in April of 2013! So ALL fluid in my band removed till I recovered and weight crept back on. I have had my band filled and removed so many times because I haven’t been in the green zone for proper Weightloss! Prior to me been banded I was 86.6kg and I seem to lose a good amount of weight on the 2 weeks of prep. My latest dramas are that I have a small hiatus hernia at the site of my lapband but it’s not causing me pain nor reflux so that’s ok but can’t see my Weightloss Surgeon till February next year just hope it doesn’t get worse but got plans in case it does. Other issues I have not to do with my weightloss at all is I’m needing my appendix out, possible cyst on my kidney removed and I’m puzzled over these apparent displaced surgical clips I have down in left part of my hip area which may have been left there from my gall bladder surgery. But I suppose the upside of all of this is no major weight gain and managed to keep most of it off in the last 5 years, I’ve gone from a size 18-20 in clothes to size 14-16 in clothes. I am hoping after the surgeries I have to remove my appendix and then fix up the hiatus hernia I can get back on track with my Weightloss Journey
Every time I come back on here it's to post an issue about band and the problems I'm having with or from it and feel like a broken record at times and I question myself if I truly did the right thing on getting Weightloss Surgery. I'm sure there are others out there who agree with me and may be having the same troubles and I love to hear from you. I was Banded in November 2012...5 months later I had my Gall Bladder removed and I've had issues with my band been too tight at times and not been able to find the right adjustment for restriction. Now I've been diagnosed with IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). I don't know if it's related to having my gall bladder removed or I had issues prior to my Weightloss Surgery with IBS but I just get the feeling I'm having more health issues in having a lapband then I did without it but I understand that prior to my Weightloss Surgery I was obsese, type II diabetes and very unhappy! But why the continuous health issues now? It makes me wanna have my band removed! I gotta go in for a barium swallow to check on my band but keep putting it off cuz it scares me, cuz I worry about slippage or other bad issues regarding the band and another thing is that barium stuff is vile! As I was typing this I was tearing up and I can't help it cuz I feel I have failed in my attempt to lose weight in what I thought was the right thing to do as nothing else was helping.
I posted this in The Bandit Lounge with the title "Worried and Confused"
"I'm not sure if others out there have ever experienced this and that's why I'm reaching out for advice of some sort while I wait to see if I can get an appointment with my Weightloss Surgeon. I've been Banded for over 3 years now. The last couple of weeks now I'm constantly getting stuck moments and I've had to make myself sick just to get relief. I've also had some bad reflux to point of shoulder tip pain (I've not had this for years, since my weightloss surgery), and I've been taking Zantac to give me some relief for it. So my real question is.... As you lose weight does your band become tighter due to weightloss? I have no idea and it's worrying me a far bit now. Because of the stuck moments etc I'm avoiding food and going for foods that are sliders just to avoid stuck moments and discomfort " Love to hear your thoughts here too!

I love my Slow Cooker! I'll cook up 2 different dishes and portion them out and freeze them....then I have main meals for 2 weeks! One recipe I love doing in my slow cooker is Curried Mince (can be cooked on the stove top but you get more servings in a slow cooker). Ingredients as follows; 2 brown onions diced 500g of extra lean mince 1 can of light coconut cream 2 beef stock cubes dissolved in 300ml of warm water 2 cups of frozen mixed vegetables (I use peas, corn and carrots but you can use any mix veggies) 2 heaped tablespoons of Clive of India Curry Powder Chuck it all in the slow cooker, stir to mix and put it on the high setting. Im not fussed on browning meat or onion but you can do this before you put it in your slow cooker.
Hey all you Bandits out there!! I'm unsure if someone has raised this topic before and the fact I haven't been on for a while but I'm curious to know from either new Bandits or Vetran Bandits if they have ever experienced trouble eating their regular foods/drinks they are use to eating/drinking with this damn hot weather????? I'm really struggling to eat and sometimes drink and have had so many stuck moments it's driving me crazy!!!! Any advice out there especially from long term Bandits....
I haven't been on here in a while and I'm reaching out to fellow bandits who have had their band for a while...come the 9th this month it will be 3 years for me. I'm needing help and needing advice... * anyone know where I can get a women's liquid multivitamin or do the gummy vitamins work just as well? * anyone experience sudden changes in bowel habits as in cramping and diarrhoea, that could be band related due to diet habits? * ideas on boosting weightloss after not being able to lose weight at all regardless on what you've been doing to lose weight?
My hair was very fine and limp before been banded and I malted heaps. I did Shave For a Cure last year and had a number 3 done on my hair and now my hair is longer then it's ever been, slightly thicker and curly in some spots and I'm finding it to be healthier then it's ever been but I still malt a lot! So I do believe been banded, eating healthier and doing exercise plus taking a multivitamin (Swisse Womens) has improved my hair and skin in so many ways. Come the 9th November it will be 2 years since been banded
Five months after been banded I had my gall bladder removed! I was in a lot of pain and it was due to a 1cm stone in the neck of the gall bladder. And it was the test they injected dye in my veins that pick it up not the barium swallow
Hey All! I've not been on in a while. I'm curious to know if the sensations I'm feeling are normal or could I be having band troubles?? I seem to be experiencing a tight sort of pain just below my rib cage(I think it's from the top part of my stomach where the band is), but feel the pain more so when I breath in and out (at times). I see my surgeon again next month but just want opinions or thoughts and if there is urgency I'll call and try to get in to see my surgeon earlier. Thanks ☺ï¸
I have spoken with my dietician a while back and bought up the idea of it but will be seeing her again soon and get her advice on the best alternatives to replace my proteins...plus I have a couple of friends who are vegans who can also help me
