Hi all, I’m new here and not sure if I’ll get any answers! I’ve been on the public wait list at Alfred hospital for over a year now and I’ve now finally heard from them and am going to the Bariatric seminar in March. Can anyone tell me the rough timeline from there or what else has to be done after or is it just waiting again? Thanks!
Hi! I'm totally new to posting (though I've been reading posts for a few weeks) I have a bmi of 61.4 with a few other health issues (obviously!) my gp just recently sent a referral to the Alfred hospital and I received confirmation they received my referral last week. What is the process from here? I can't get phi it's just not in my scope financially, is the waiting time going to be years? Are there things that preclude you from getting sleeved? is my bmi too high? (I'm 5ft2 and 156kg at last check)
jen16 posted a topic in VictoriaI did something today that I normally wouldn't do... While at the hospital waiting in clinic - I saw a young guy (couldn't be older than 20 maybe younger?) with his mum who was about to start the whole banding experience. Quite frankly he look quite scared, so I approached them while they were waiting also and let them know there was THIS great support group website/forum that I have found so much help with as there is such a lack of support post banding through the public system. I told them that it's JUST people sharing their experiences, however it's great to know your not alone when certain things happen and its the first time. I told the mother "I'm sure you'll be a bit like my mum & there's so theres a section with recipes when you run out of ideas" - (as I can't physically stand long enough to make anything at the moment due to my OA and nerve damage, not even a cup of tea, mum does my food for me. She is registered as my carer as most days I can't even dress myself). I hope I did the right thing? Would you do this?
