Anyone with experiences with the surgeons at Centre for Bariatric Surgeons OTHER than Paul O'Brien? Gary Crosthwaite, Wendy Brown, Stewart Skinner, Andrew Smith, Paul Burton??? How did it work - did you meet with Prof O'Brien first or the surgeon who ended up doing the work? Can you recommend one over the other? http://www.lapbandaustralia.com.au/surgeons.html

Booked for The Avenue - What are your experiences with this hospital.
Jaxy posted a topic in Victoria
Went for an initial appointment with Stewart Skinner two days ago. Pretty much gave me the go ahead, no opti, and could book me before xmas! Decided on January 3rd for my big day, which is at The Avenue. I was wondering if many of you were banded there and what your experience of the procedure and hospital were? Also - as its an overnight stay - did you mostly sleep after the op? What happens the rest of the day? When did you leave the next morning and how was the journey home - much pain? How was sleeping? We just bought a nice new memory foam bed, however its quite soft and is you need to your abs to get out of it!! Just getting prepared - a little nervous. Eeek! Ta guys.- 15 replies

Hi All, I just thought I should give a formal "Hello". This site is just wonderful and I am really grateful to everyone who shares their stories - good and bad! I wont bore you too much with mine though - same old yo-yo dieting, Personal training injuries, fat genes, and have decided to pull my head out of the sand! I have had enough of beating myself up about my weight and wearing fat frumpy daggy clothes. So banding it is! I have to say though - even with all the stories and knowledge and information - I am getting a little bit more nervous each week, and with each step I take. The chat with the doctor for a referral, getting the bloods and urine done, and the next step is meeting the surgeon - Stewart Skinner in Melbourne (has anyone been banded by him??) - on December 4th. I don't think I have really sat down for a decent length of time and talked about how fat i am and how unhappy it makes me. Im not looking forward to it - but at the same time I am! Anyway, I have some questions about time frames. How long from your initial meeting with the surgeon was it before you got banded? Did you have to wait long? Does everyone do Optifast and if so, for how long? Also how long was your stay and can you describe the whole process from arrival to getting home? I am hoping to prepare myself for the journey, so any information will be appreciated. Good luck to you all!
