Winter fashion- Boots are hot!

Recommended Posts

No matter if you are close to goal or just starting out high boots look hot on everyone! (well maybe not men...) I got to wear my new winter boots and boy oh boy did they give me a lift. I was starting to get a bit down because I'm at a plateau but after trying on outfits with my boots I'm feeling on top of the world! If you don't have some go buy some now! City Chic and Autogaph have some wide calf boots and apparently target does too so there is no excuse.

What is your winter staple??

I've found it is amazing how good you feel in clothes that fit well. After years of wearing baggy, shapless clothing I could hide behind I'm enjoying feeling good about wearing clothes and doing stuff. I only bought a few things for summer but have had to buy quite a few winter clothes as all mine are way too big (YAY!). I have had some fabulous compliments from people who can see a difference!

My new wardrobe includes some great jeans (I work from home so live in jeans), a few coloured tops (not the standard black and brown), a basic black cardi...and accessories (thanks Beth) necklaces, and scarves mostly, am adding a few bangles too!!

I know clothes are only a wrapper but when you feel good in what you are wearing (underwear, boots or just the top layer of clothes) it is amazing the boost you get!

I love boots.

I went to Vietnam around 18 months ago for the first time and got a pair of knee high boots made for me.

They were the first knee high boots I've ever owned. I *may* have cried, I was so excited. I love these damn boots so much they are falling apart I took them back over the Vietnam with me this year and got them resized and made smaller. And got another pair :D

Good times.

I love my boots.

I have never been able to buy wide calf boots here. I could get them in Melbourne if I was prepared to pay. So....this year I have ordered a pair from http://www.onestopplus.com They haven't arrived yet. So excited!

Peroni shoes in Melbourne specialise in wide calf boots.

I love my knee high boots I got from Diana Ferrari and Mathers - one brown pair and one black pair :)

I might even be brave enough to wear my high heel boots I got through Laura Benini parties a few years back. I have a pair of claret red patent leather ankle boots and a pair of half calf height red patent leather boots...I love red shoes!!

It might be worth checking again. This season they have some that have a buckle you can undo to give a lot more room (plus based on your ticker you are a few kilos lighter than me) or try some of the online places or Rivers as suggested. Gone are the days when us wider calf ppl can't wear boots. Even when I was thin I could only just wear boots from Dianna Ferrari so having 3 pair of boots now is a massive win.

@kazbothe red boots sound fabulous!

Thats it, I am going out to buy boots! I ha ve gone from 102kg to 73kg in a year and have nothing to wear for winter. I am having a total crisis of confidence about shopping and even though I have bought a few new colourful things am nervous about wearing them as they are so different from what I was used to wearing. No need to explain, black, shapeless, long skirts etc. I am so happy about having lost weight but still have the feeling of wanting to hide, blend in, not stand out, perhaps boots will give me the confidence kick in the pants that I need.

You go girl!! Great work on the weight loss, I know what you mean, I find clothes shopping really daunting. Have found a store/brand I like, their clothes make me feel great and that is working for me! Definitely give the new gear a try and you may be surprised...and go out and get yourself some boots!!

Kel the jacket is from Dotti. It was $130 and worth every cent. I bought a beautiful red coat last year but in a size 16. Needless to say it is now entirely too big for me. :(

P.S. Funnily enough, the boots are from Dotti last year. I picked them up for a steal of $19.95 after spending half an hour huffing and puffing to get into other boots in other stores. They rock my life.

I went to Harbour Town in Melbourne on the weekend, discovered the Levis outlet and happy to say I brought my first pair of Levis in about 20 years, skinny legs size 30 (not sure what size that is in normal sizes eg: 12 14 etc) whoooo hoooooo! Loved them so much I went and bought some boots to go with them, Famous Footwear $20 bargain, oh and the Levis wear only $45 as they had 1/2 price of entire store including sale items :D

I <3 Boots!

I have so many pairs of all calf sizes but right now I am into ankle boots :) I just got a red suede pair today! I still have a long way to go with my weight loss so I don't want to spend any more money on knee high boots but when I reach goal weight, I will buy a couple of pairs :)

My favourite boots are a pair of cumfs I brought 4 seasons ago. Buckles on the side, olive green knee high leather boots. Paid a fortune for them but wear them at least 4 times a week in winter. Love olive green and love my boots. They were getting a wee bit tight (Oh sorry that was me getting a whole lot bigger, brought them when I weighed 80kgs not 110kgs) Lets just say they are getting loose again. Love Love Love my boots and love Canberra winters as my feet never get too hot when its snowing on the mountains.
