Hello, I'm one week in...

Recommended Posts

So just wanted to say hi to my fellow Tasmanians. I've been banded for a week now and my procedure was done in Launceston. My hubby and I moved to Tassie in December 2013 and decided before moving that once here we would make a change to our lives. I got to go first and he still has a few more appointments with specialists before the surgeon will go ahead, but at least he knows what's coming. I still have 3 weeks on liquids (surgeon's instructions), then 2 on mushies, before I get to go back to solids. So far, so good, looking forward to some more weight loss.

I'm so happy with the loss so far. I was advised to stick to a liquid diet for 4 weeks, before moving onto to mush for 2 weeks, but think that I'll start mush (very sloppy) sometime next week. I also have my first follow-up appointment with my surgeon next Wednesday, which will be interesting. I skipped my walk yesterday, but am back to my pre-op walking distance, just takes me a little longer (not that much time). Looking forward to the rest of the journey.

So far so good Veggo Mumma, I'm now six weeks post op and have an appointment with the surgeon tomorrow and hope to get my first fill since surgery. My hubby goes in on the 13th of June (Friday). Just curious where were you banded? By whom?

I was banded in Hobart by Dr Wilkinson in 2010. He now comes up to Launnie for consultations which is great as it was hard to do a 5 hour round trip if I needed a fill/unfill.

K, I was done by Girish Pande, who has his own room near St Vincent's. Did talk to the doctor about Dr Wilkinson but was referred to Mr Pande because he is local.

At the time I was banded, I don't believe there was anyone available in Launnie. It's good there is that choice now!

I think so, I understand that there is more choice in the north now then there ever was before.
