I have been banded 7 weeks now. About 2 weeks ago I got a pimple break out on my face. I have never been one to have pimples before and just wondering if any body else has experienced this or perhaps its just me and I should have it checked out. Thanks

It could be hormonal? My hormones were all over the place for my first few months of losing weight.

since sleeving I have been getting acne on my back and shoulders, never really had acne there before.

On a positive note, my PMS symptoms have greatly reduced (I no longer want to kill Tony once a month, which pleases him greatly)

My skin went up and down. A steaming hot flannel to cleanse your face and water galore should clear it up in no time. I think its just your bodies way of dealing with stress.

Wow Sav... I've had exactly the same issue... My zits are all around my chin line, and some down on my neck too BLERGH !!!!

Am assuming it's from the whole 'detox' process and possibly because I've stopped taking my daily vitamins (fear of tablets getting stuck!!). It's a good question... I wonder if others had the same issue.

I just started taking a daily vitamin, quite a big pill but I have had no issues swallowing it.

For adult women, acne along the jawline/chin and spreading down the neck area tends to be hormonal acne, affected by levels of sex hormones (progesterone, oestrogen and testosterone) and also levels of insulin and stress hormones.

Often the pill helps to regulate sex hormones involved in acne and if you're losing weight, insulin levels are likely to be all over the place. It's only one pimple so I wouldn't worry too much, but regular face cleansing, using a chemical exfoliator like BHA or AHA and a good quality moisturiser helps to keep my acne under control (I have mild hormonal acne). I know the words "chemical exfoliator" can be scary, but there is SO much research showing that physical exfoliators (like microbeads in face washes) do very little to help control pimples, and BHAs are great in cleaning out the pores whilst AHAs work to fade scars and dark spots left from acne.

If you have a cyst like pimple, you can use a hot cloth pressed on the pimple to draw some of the gunk out and then use benzoyl peroxide or salycilic acid gel to treat, or use something like teatree oil on the pimple (I prefer the latter since my skin is dry and the benzoyl and salycilic can dry the skin out). I wouldn't use hot water cloths all over your face though, as it tends to dry the face out.

You can also use a hydrocolloid bandage (found in pharmacies) over the pimple at night time and the bandage draws the pus to the surface and collects on the underside of the bandage so that when you take it off, the pimple is flat and pus-free... no popping involved! The pimple/cyst needs to have a head though, otherwise it won't work. Those bandages have been a life save for me, since I always pop and pick, and I end up with a scar afterward.

Anyway, hope this all helps! I'm super interested in skin (thinking about specialising in dermatology when I finish med school) and like to keep my own skin looking as good as possible so I spend a lot of time reading about it!

Glad I could help! Like I said, I'm kind of obsessed with my skin (comes with territory since I was a pale freckly kid) and making sure it stays looking young and blemish-free ... or as much as possible! I get told I look 18-20 all the time so I must be doing something right :P

I got banded at the end of March and never had acne. Now I have the worst acne :( it's all over my face and chin and big red spots that have no heads. It's very deep on my cheeks and jawline. I've changed my skincare now to Avene and now use a clarasonic plus brush daily. I've started this treatment for a week now - hopefully I see some results
