Looks yummy!

But the more I read on the subject, the more it seems that it is not the calories that are the problem as per se, it's the refined carbohydrates/fructose - including maple syrup - that has such a disastrous effect on our body, causing obesity  and other problems such as insulin resistance/metabolic syndrome, hypertension, gout, fertility problems, heart disease, diabetes etc.

I have started a topic in my blog called "A Calorie is Not a Calorie"

Being on a low carb diet in the past, I was making protein balls adapted from a recipe from the "Syndrome X" book by Lesley Kenton, and I used low carb, artificially sweetened protein powder.

(This feels like "AA"!  "My name is Denzel and I am a carbohydrate addict".)

How about you make your yummy balls (!) but maybe try tweaking it a little?  And then report back on palatability etc?

Look forward to hearing how they go!

Nom nom!!!

BTW, your have achieved AMAZING results!!

Congratulations!

:)

They look nice, but I'm not sure about the 55 calories... maybe their calcs are wrong - did you log the exact weights of the ingredients when you made them, to get all the figures?

nah I only savour one every 3 or four days, Im walking over 20,000 steps a day, going to the gym 5 days a week, I actually put in 70 cals in my fitness pal when I do eat one just in case .... have to enjoy something otherwise life would be pretty boring. nah I never did the calculations I took it off the webpage, but Im really not that overally concerned.  to me its better to nibble one of these every few days than eat a mars bar every day. I don't smoke I don't drink alcohol so I allow myself this one treat every now and then.

Thanks for the info though gals, I do understand what you are saying.  have a great day.  Will definitely read up on that info later Den, knowledge is power for sure!

Oh, I wasn't having a go at you or implying you shouldn't have them - I was wondering about the stats because I too use MFP and I like my entries to be exact (I was thinking of giving them a go)  :)

One every few days... no way I'd have the willpower to ration them like that, lol!

Just for interest, A reminder to watch @60Mins tonight and see how much sugar you consume everyday, if you aren't aware you'll be amazed. #sugarfreearmy
