Just wanted to update I'm 200 grams away from losing 50kgs. That's an entire person! I'm down to 68.3kgs as posted in weigh in Wednesday and couldn't be happier. My little boy recently turned 1 (how time flies) and I'm so happy with the photos taken at his party. I didn't have anything to pick apart except my weird facial expression in one of them but I had a good laugh about it.

I was 6 months post op on the 17th November. Would love to get down to 55kgs but will see what happens and how I'm feeling. The best part is even though I'm not at goal weight and haven't had my plastic surgery yet I'm just so happy with how I look and for the most part feel comfortable in my skin. My husband is thrilled too. I can't keep his hands off me and of course not just the physical changes that he's attracted to but he loves that I'm happy and confident. How are all the other May people going?

Amazing effort @Boganlicious  just wonderful xxx

I’m 1.8kgs away from goal. Total loss has been just under 38kgs. It’s been a slow crawl to the finish line but I too am at the point where I’m happy where I am

For me, this operation was about my Kidney Health more so than weight loss and whilst I still have chronic kidney disease, the side effects are much more manageable now.

I’m now a size 12-14 which on my 172cm frame looks great.  I just had my 6 month surgeversary this week and couldn’t be happier.  I’m still loosing weight just slowly and I’m sure I’ll get to my goal weight before Christmas which was my goal.

Oh well done ladies!!

I’m still ticking away... had a bit of an average week and this is the first time since I began on this journey that I haven’t lost weight in a week.

Well, I did, but I suspect it was dehydration? And I’ve been a carb monster and no exercise so the grams are back!  Its a nice little reality check... but I’m actually totally ok with it.

I’m only a couple of kg away from my initia goal, and about 13kg from my revised ‘dream’ goal.

Little late with my monthly update, for those playing at home.

7 months since surgery:

start weight: 134.9

current weight: 85.6

total loss so far: 49.3kgs

I’m 600g away from my initial goal, so close I can almost touch it!!

My ‘new’ goal is 75 to 78, however I’m going to play it by ear. Seems ridiculous to be contemplating ‘too thin’ but I guess it is a possibility. I’ve already had a couple of questions about my health...

i hope everyone has a fabulous Christmas and New Year- and enjoys tiny one off treats!!

That's an amazing loss Zaruse.  I'm a fair bit jealous that you've been able to lose that in 6 months. I am sure you will be at that goal before Christmas and looks like you have a good goal for the new year.

Thanks @HeidiF it is an amazing result! Though losing this amount in such a short time has its downsides too- ie. my skin innlots of places isn’t keeping up... so I’m quite stretchmarked and floppy.

but whether the journey is long or relatively short, we all get there at the end.   Honestly if you had told me “this time next year you will weigh 86kgs” I would have laughed then probably cried, because it looked like an impossible goal.

I'm down 52.1kgs and I have 11kgs to get to my goal weight. I'm wearing size 11 jeans and I'm 6kgs off weighing what I did when I first met my hubby. Life is good. I'm wearing things and shopping at places I never would have thought of before.

There will be nothing left of you!! But you are going so well, whoo hoo!!

I’m pleased to say I just tipped over 50kgs off, and I’m now at my surgeons goal weight. I’ve got another 7 to go to make a BMI of 25. I’m aiming to get at least 5 of the 7 gone by April.

8 (and a bit) months!!

start weight: 134.9

current weight: 83.5

total loss so far: 51.4

loss has been slow over the last month, and really variable- I was 83.1 one day then a couple of days later 84, and beyond!

My latest aim is to be 78 by April- which is quite ambitious given the much reduced rate of loss.

Feeling good!

I haven't weighed in for a couple of weeks. I have been naughty lately but I'm back on track now. After being stuck at the same weight or even fluctuating a few hundred grams I've finally lost a little more.

118.1kgs starting weight

60.9kgs currently

55kgs goal weight

I have mixed feelings. Sometimes I love how I look while others I feel too skinny as I have visible bones now. My ribs and collarbone stick out, when on my side my hip bones jut out, my upper arms while a little flabby from the excess skin are the smallest they have ever been even when I weighed less and the back of my shoulders are boney. My husband said it's just because I'm not used to being this size as I was big for so long. I don't know. I've even been called skinny a couple of times and I'm now smaller than others who I used to think were slim. That's a weird thing to get my head around.

9 months down, almost a year from the day I decided I needed to make a drastic change.

start weight: 134.9

current weight: 82.5

total loss so far: 52.4

Focussing more on gaining fitness and (maybe) some muscle, so I’m not at all concerned that loss has been virtually non-existent- 1kg in a whole month!

I’m definitely able to eat more now, things that used to hurt are ok now. Which is good and bad.

Non-scale-victory: buying size MEDIUM 2xu compression tights because the Large were too loose around my legs. Amaze.

Still aiming for 78 in April, but might have revised that to end of month, otherwise I think I’ll struggle to hit the goal! Nearly everyone says I don’t need to lose any more, but I’m still above overweight according to BMI, and I need to shed some flab.

52kg in 9 months is great! Can you tell me your daily intake of food and exercise? Also do you take much vitamins? I need to lose 60kgs to be at my goal weight but BMI says my goal is right on the edge on healthy which is ridiculous so don't put all your thought on the BMI scale please

Sure thing!

Vitamins are: women once daily multi, a vit d, a vit b12, and I added a ‘hair skin nails’ in too- surgeon thinks it is probably a waste of money but it can’t do me harm so go for it. (I’ve lost a lot of hair volume- lucky I had oodles to begin with)

6.30am I start my day with a berocca mixed with benefibre, 300ml which I sip on my way to work. I’ll also have a few cashews or almonds as well, because I like to have something in my tum before I take my vitamins... which I have in the car as well!

8am i have an espresso coffe with a bit of milk

9am or so I have half a chobani yoghurt pot (lemon or passionfruit are my faves)

12ish I have lunch- which could be a small salad of baby spinach leaves with some protein- a bit of chicken, or halloumi etc.

around 3pm I might have a piece of dark choc, or another coffee.

4.30-6pm i might munch on some popcorn on my drive home, to keep me going until dinner

7pm-8.30 dinner- which is a protein with a bit of free vege or salad

i try to get my 10k steps a day. Weekends and some weekdays I’ll ride one or two horses (eg. Before dawn if I’m working from home). I really need to focus on strengthening and toning exercises, but I’m lazy and it has been so hot.

Hope that helps!

Long time no post. I've posted in weigh in Wednesday but want to update here I pretty much made it to my goal weight today! 55.1kgs so 100 grams off. I've lost 63kgs all up. Very very happy. I do fluctuate by 1kg or so but that's always been the case for me even before my weight problem started when I was slim and maintained it for a few years. I would bounce up and down by 2kgs depending on the day and what I'd eaten, cycle, etc. How's everyone else from May going?

12 months since surgery for me.

start weight: 134.9

current weight: 80.2

total loss so far: 54.7

so I didn’t make ‘78 by April’ goal- I still haven’t been able to crack the 70s!

But all good. I’m happy, comfortable and getting fitter. Surgery was a difficult decision, but I don’t regret it, not for a second.

This is is going to sound dumb, but I swear people treat me differently now. I’m certainly no looker, but I’m sure people are nicer and more willing to help me with random stuff?! Maybe my demeanour has changed too.

Anyhow, good luck to anyone who has read through all this and considering this drastic action. Do it. It is so worth it.

Hey Zaruse. I will be 12 months post op on the 17th. I've maintained my goal weight for a few months now although do fluctuate here and there. Atm I'm 53.7kgs which is under my goal of 55kgs, it really depends on the day. I would like to have another body scan done as I was 73kgs at the only scan I've ever had done. I'm very interested to know my body fat percentage as well as muscle mass.

I'm still loving life and the positive changes. I am so much more confident in all aspects of my life. I never had a problem with chatting to others before such as shop assistants but now I feel more comfortable doing so like they want to talk back. If someone looks at me in public I no longer think omg they're judging how fat I am, why are they looking at me? Clothes shopping is amazing and I've dragged out my old skinny clothes I had stashed away. Funnily enough some of them fit perfectly whereas others are too big or don't fit properly in certain areas. I range from a size 8 (jeans and even jackets) to a 10 as sizing is funny and there is no standard. I'm not sure if I would need a 12 in certain clothes anymore as a 10 seems to be a perfect fit apart from the odd pair of jeans or jackets where an 8 fits just right. I need a new wardrobe as I've had to throw out so much even things I bought at 70kgs thinking my size wouldn't change much are swimming on me.

What else? Blood results are all good and I see my surgeon soon for a follow up. I'm the person I want to be. I've changed my hair completely both colour and gone pretty short. I'm currently growing it back but will be around 6 months until it reaches bob length. I never would have chopped my hair off pre weight loss even though I really wanted that cut because I felt my face was too fat. Nothing else to report except I have no regrets. If I could have done this earlier I would have. When I did have my surgery almost a year ago the timing was right for me.
