SURGERY FOR LAP BAND TOMORROW

Recommended Posts

Guess who is nervous for tomorrow's surgery.  I have had other surgeries for various things but this is the first time I am having surgery for something that is not diseased or wrong...know what I mean?  Packed, having my last drink of water and off to bed.  Hope I get some good wishes.

Thanks so much. Just waiting to go to theatre, thirsty and hungry. Positive and comfortable though.

Operation went well and I am now post I think 4 weeks. I am struggling with wanting to eat bad things when stress is high.

Hi everyone, my surgery went well yesterday but I am struggling with nauseous feeling from the gas used to inflate during surgery. Also struggling to swallow tablets and liquids without feeling sick. I’ve been told that the first 72 hours are the worst- looking forward to the next chapter

Kazbaa and Mouse-mum.

Hang in there! For the first week I wondered "What have I done!" But once you get passed the uncomfortable stage post surgery you will be fine. Can't emphasize strongly enough to stick to the rules. I was banded in Jan 2016 and have no regrets at all.

Good luck!

Thanks Rosemary,

Two weeks today since surgery, staples have been removed but still some soreness at some of the incisions. Struggling with the move onto purée foods and I don’t think I’m drinking enough. Have started going for short 10 min walks and am hoping to start walking on the treadmill this week. I have another 1 1/2 weeks off work, just hope I can be on soft foods before I return. Weight hasn’t come off as fast as I thought it would- maybe I’m just a bit impatient. I hope all the other October girls are doing ok, would love to hear how everyone is doing.

Going okay but weight slowed.  I don't lose weight quickly anyway.  Due next week to have the band pumped up.  I am able to eat most things.

@Mouse-mum remember it is major surgery don't push yourself. I was a fat fit person, that makes sense, but slowly went back to my exercise program. It took about a month.  I started losing 2kgs a week. The slower the better. Once you add more fitness into your routine the weight will come off as long as you are doing the right thing.

@KAZBAA be patient everyone is different. There were times when I plateaued even when I was doing everything I was supposed to do but I kept at it. My start weight was 81.4. I weighed myself today I am 58.3.

Hello everyone, just wondered how everybody is going after surgery. Has anyone else had any problems transitioning into normal food? How is everyone going with their weight loss? I hope you’re all well and happy with your results. Keep in touch :)

Hi Mouse-mum

How are you going?

Had my 3 year check up

2016

81.5kgs

Neck 34cm, waist 103cm, hips 120cm

2019

58.1kgs

Neck 32cm, waist 79cm, hips 98cm.

I haven't had a fill in 18 months and don't feel I need one.

Treat your weight loss tool right and it will do the same for you.

Keep at it and you will be on your way to a healthier you.
