Well last year I decided to start the ball rolling for bariatric surgery. I have struggled with weight ALL my life, I was the fat kid at school and been the big fella ever since.
I'm 41 now and for the last 2 years been on medication for type 2 diabetes. I love eating the wrong type of foods and I eat when I'm bored (boring non physical job).
I have to wait the one year for private health care to kick in (26th Dec 11) then I will be able to go in for my endoscopy and hopefully soon after the banding. I have chosen Dr. Lilian Kow as
she performs the operation nearest where I live South of Adelaide.
At the moment I'm 138kg at my heaviest I have been 155kg. My first goal and major goal is to get down to 100kg then perhaps 90kg for the long term. My main concerns are I eat when I'm bored
and not necessarily hungry. I know from a friend who has lost over 60kg with the same surgery that when you are full you do not want to eat. He said he did not believe it until he had the band. I am looking forward to this feeling and seeing some results. My GP has said if I manage to lose the majority of my weight I will probably be diabetes free, that has to be a bonus right there.
I have read some great stories of weight loss on here and hope to be one of those as of next year. Another benefit of losing all my weight will being comfortable when traveling overseas. We travel every year and I struggle to get comfortable in the seats not to mention not being able to put the tray table down because of my guts...
Thanks for reading and I hope to keep everyone informed of my progress as I go along.
Cheers Rob
