November Bandits 2011

I'm still sure of my decision, this is something I am doing for my health, now and in the future. I just find myself becoming more and more concerned about the possible negative outcomes. My mother had a horrendous result with long lasting effects from 'routine' surgery a few years ago, and that has definitely coloured my vision. I just keep looking at the positive role models I find on this site and I see that while I am in for a struggle, I can get fantastic results from my band.
Looking forward, not back.

The important thing for you to do before the surgery is to be as healthy as you can and have a positive attitude. You know that this is what you want so just walk in there with a smile on your face and tell yourself this is about you and for you. Health and happiness are going to be part of your future, hey we all will have bad days but they just make the good ones even better. Congratulations on making this positive life changing decision. I have my fingers crossed for you. I would love to have a band buddy. It seems that most people get their dates pretty quick. I just had to plan mine around holiday leave at work. (Damn you B. living life up in France while I have to wait and wait for my surgery.)
Sue,
I am being positive and looking forward. I was just having a low moment and letting the fears creep in. Less than six weeks till surgery, I just have to survive this intense busy period at work. (Damn you B. jetting all over Europe while I have to work twice as hard in your absence. My souvenir better be awesome lady or you are in trouble

I had my first appointment in late august and had to wait until 11 october as my work buddy??? is away in turkey/greece until then.
Not fair is it. not only do we have to put up with not having our bands done, but also think about them jetting around the world while we have to do double the work. grrr.
at least we know its worth it in the end.
maybe will be thinner me doing it next year, what about you?

It's not so bad, rushing into something this important seems a little silly. It has given me plenty of time to read through these boards and get myself more mentally prepared. Plus everyone is so busy at work, no one has time to question me too much about what kind of surgery I am actually having.
*giggles* I told my boss that I was having gender re-assignment surgery and when I come back to work, I will finally be the woman I was always meant to be. I told another lady I was getting a boob job, but that they were so expensive I was only getting the left one done and I would have to save up to the get the other one done next year. I told someone else that I was having the fat sucked from one set of cheeks and injected into the other, but I would not tell him which was which, I would let that be a surprise.

I must admit I havent even told them I am having surgery yet. I am just going on holiday to Melbourne.
Although I might have some explaining to do as I wont be able to pull and push patients around for a few weeks afterwards, might just tell them my back is playing up.LOL.

Total newbie - registered today! I am currently pre-op with my surgery date booked for 24th November. I could have had an earlier date but have to wait for a work colleage to come back from overseas - so 24th November it is.
Really looking forward to the start of my new life as a bandster - though also secretly scared of the surgery

Welcome to the bandwagon. You will find lots of support and information here with lots of lovely people to help you along your way.
Seems like a recurring theme for the November bandsters, this waiting on other people holiday plans. I tell you what, I plan to take a big trip to Canada when I shift all this weight.

Yeh me too. I have visions of going to Europe/UK when I am skinny and can wear nice clothes again - imagine fitting comfortably in an airplane seat - can't wait. I have noticed a few other people also saying they have to wait for work colleages to come back from their leave. I could of had my surgery on the 20th October but that week is the week I can't take leave from - never mind, I shall continue to check out these forums and people lap band blogs. I'm totally addicted and love listening to all the stories. So many good results.

Have myself an appointment with the surgeon on the 6th October. I am expecting to probably be booked for banding in November. I need to decide how I will fund the gap, whether it will be through financing or through super....If I go down the super funding, I gather it takes around 6 or so weeks to be approved, so nonetheless expect a date in November to be the earliest predicted band date! Will have to also organise my work roster to run some shifts together to enable a good week or so off, though I have stacks of sickies I can take if need be.

I am booked to have my surgery at Peninsula Private (Frankston, Melbourne) on November 25. Mr Skinner only works there every 2nd Friday so there is a bit of a wait - or should I say 'weight'? LOL!!
I don't mind the wait as it's given me plenty of time to be sure that this is what I want - it is - and to be mentally prepared.
Evil Joy - love the stories you have told work mates! I am not currently working. I quit my last job in June due to bullying, then we went overseas. I will start looking for something else soon.

Congratulations on being November Bandits. It is gonna be great, seeing as there are a few of us now. We will all be going through the same thing at the same time so we can offer each other lots of love and support.
Junior, I'm glad you like my little jokes. I get along really well with the folks I work with, it's just my little way of telling them that I am not quite ready to share my news. It made them smile, so they know there isn't any hard feelings.

Love your reasons! I had thought about saying I was getting a frontal lobotomy, but I knew they'd say 'why bother'.
