Oh I'm quite excited too! I have everything I need (well except for the band lol). I've even purchased individual meals from the local supermarket to get me through the mushy stages. The only thing left to get is juices for post op.

Oh hehehe that's a dangerous question :) Okay I have:

  • 4 weeks worth Optifast
  • 1kg tin Sustagen
  • 30+ celebrity slim individual dinners
  • diet chocolate topping (for vanilla optifast)
  • Multiple packs of small lunch containers
  • 6x bottles of Coloxyl & Senna (for bowels)
  • Benefibre
  • equal sugars
  • small bowls (post banding)
  • Crop tops (post op)
  • New PJ's for hospital
  • apprx 80 cans of diet soft drinks (pre-op)
  • Operation paper work prefilled out (with estimates of all costs)
I'm sure theres a tonne more I forgot. Funnily enough the dietician said I'm the most organised pt shes seen so far lol :P

Hi guys,

My name is Anna and I too have made the decision to have a lap band. Havent yet seen the surgeon ( 9 December) but am looking forward to the day when I can once again feel good about being naked infront of my partner. My BMI is 30 so not hugely overweight, but I feel so unfit and unattractive..this excess weight does no favours for my self esteem. I had a gastric ballon for a short while last year but unfortunatley was one of the minority who couldnt tolerate it..those 8 weeks with the balloon were the worst in my life! I did however love the fact that I could walk past a cake shop and have absolutely no interest in eating..I wonder if the band makes your appetite disappear also.

Anyway I am happy to be part of this community and look forward to hearing everyones progress. Good luck to you all!

Gastric ballon is pretty much a balloon they put inside ur stomach to limit the amount of room for food.

WOW you go girl, So prepared!

Ill get things over the next 4 weeks!

Was looking at new PJ'S but then thought i didnt really want to spend $20 on new ones that wont fit for long!!! I'll Prob just wear a tank top and pants to bed!

Ive seen alot of peopl say crop tops as you cant wear a bra afterwoods but havnt come across one that would fit me! I have one thats a size 20 but doesnt really support much so i think ill just not wear one and quickly get to the car people people see LOL

I got a letter today saying i have a app next week with the hospitals dietician, nurse and anaesthist :)

Hehe thanks :P I got kmart pj pants for $6 each- thinking the same you are. The crop tops were 2x for $15 @ big w and they went up to size 26. You could 'quickly' get to the car but maybe a slowly paced walk might be more suitable considering the situation lol A letter already! wow things are happening now. I've set up tickers for Optifast and surgery so I can count the days down hehe

Hi all!!

I to am being banded - on December 13, so not too long till I start optfast. I am having my op performed by Dr Justin Greenslade at the QEIi hospital in Brisbane.

My BMI is 38.5 so I have a long road ahead. Things can only get better :). I see how organised some of you are, I have done nothing yet!! My Dr gave me the opti, but I need to stock up on soups and jelly and stuff for post op. I need to go shopping. God I hate shopping!! I haven't bought jarmies - I have some singlet tops and pants to wear as well as a tent dress I can wear when I get out of hospital, no problem. At home, I can laze on the couch in my undies :).

I have yet to see the dietitian, best book that tomorrow I think - time is fleeting!!

Yes they are quite expensive, the dearest out of all allied health. To be honest they do nothing! I spent 1 hr listening to him explain how weight loss is also a psychological process and if I want a chocolate bar, have a small portion rather than sitting down to a whole box. Quite useless but like u said, you have to do it to be able to have the surgery.

Congrats! and welcome :D Even though it's shopping think of it in a positive way i.e. the last pair of pj's in that size you'll ever have to buy. I think comfy will be the key post op - especially when in hospital because sleeping in the nude is frowned upon i think hehehe

How are you guys wrapping your heads around the fact that we'll either be on liquids or mushy stages during christmas? I'll be finishing liquids on the 21st Dec and therefore be on mushys for christmas day. To top it off! Im working christmas day, boxing day and the 2 days after that - It's going to be difficult to explain why I cant eat the same food as my colleagues especially since I haven't told any one Im having lapband.

Post op and Christmas....I have kind of thought about it. I am working over Christmas but not sure if I am actually working Christmas day. If I am, it wont be so hard for me to avoid - I will just claim an upset tummy and have something really light. If I am not working, it will be more difficult. Every year we have Christmas with my closest girlfriend and her family. I havent told her....so yeah, may well try the 'upset tummy' thing on her also.

I have been reading through other topics on here. I need to get off my butt and book a dietician appointment. Not long now till I start opti-fast and I am not sure what I am supposed to do. I have the box, downstairs and after my daughter goes out, in the next hour or so, I am going to get it, open it and see what my doctor has packed :)

I've decided to tell people at work as this is going to be too big to hide from people. Craftybandit: I've said the same thing too although, I'm a nurse in a hospital/nursing home and I joked with mum I'll just have whatever the vitamised meal is for the day lol :) Ladyanni: If your unsure about the pre/post op stages it's probably best to have a chat with the dietician. In my case i wasn't allowed to have the surgery without seeing the dietician first.
