February Bandits 2012

Had my first big challenge today, Hi-Tea with friends, managed to have a taste of this & a taste of that, washed down with plenty of tea.
The sweet stuff was just so sweet. If that was me a few weeks earlier, I would have devoured the lot without touching the sides going down.
Then tonight it was dinner at a friends house, I had to tell them, & they were lovely & made me a lovely tasty soup. So no harm done there, it was so nice to get out, after being stuck home for a week.
Good luck to all the new Bandits tomorrow, it is so worth it.
Still having no luck with this ticker thingy, might have to try on main computer, dosen't want to work on the I-pad

Sorry to hear about your set back mrsfed. Sounds like you have had a tough time but you will get there soon.
I am with you rose petal, this ticker thing I just can't get. Everytime I put my pin no. in it says it is incorrect. Rahhhhh. Driving me mad. Can anyone HELP rose petal and I?????
Well I start opti today and am feeling nervous which I'm sure you have heard all before. I don't want to fail and i am only doing it for the week. Operation next Monday.
I too have been going through all these head games. What if they look inside me and I have cancer or I die on the table !!!!!!!!!!!! Oh I wish it would all wash away and I can sleep I bit longer. This forum is the only way I can vent my feelings as I don't know anyone else that has been banded. My husband just keeps telling me I will be fine. I don't want to hear those words again. Poor dear.
Anyway off to have my shake and get ready for work.
Thanks for listening
Lorraine

Moomad, I love your breastfeeding ticker! Have to tell the girl's at work about it when I go back
Big acheivement today - I am wearing a bra! LOL. Get to take the dressings off this arvo and take a peak. I am the type of person who has to play with things and pick at things so it has been a big acheivement for me for them to still all be intact.

I am wondering how those of you who have moved on from fluids to softs are fairing. I am due to move but am sooo nervous. I'm not sure what to start with the thickest I have had so far is a banana smoothie. I am not a vomiter couldn't even pig and purg when I really wanted to, once the food is in there is no getting it out. So what did you all start with and did anyone else have this anxiety?
Looking forward to your advice QB

Wow some of you ladies think about some bad stuff, I'm looking at this as an adventure and have never even thought of "what else will they find"
or "will I make it through the op". I sort of guess that life throws us shit some times, just how much sticks is the question.
Keep posative girls all will be ok.

Dont be anxious, just start very small and chose very soft things like eggs. I microwave my eggs with a little milk and stir it frequently to get it light and fluffy as I can.

Just wanted to pop in tonight and say thanks!! I have been reading along whilst in hospital but too hard to reply from my phone. Over the coming week will get into some personals once the energy levels come back. Im finally home from the hospital. Still not 100% and gastro still here but the hospital will not give me anything to stop it as they believe that it's better to clear the bowel or stomach viral infection this way. So they just keep filling me up with iv fluids. Have so many bruises from the iv's it's no longer funny.
But all good it will sort it self soon I'm sure and onwards and upwards to happier times!!,! Have now lost almost 10 since starting the shakes! Hope that this continues. I'm on 2 weeks clear fluids then 2 weeks mushies so a way to go before food yet.
I have found though that I'm not hungry and only eating because I have to... Also finding it extremely hard to get anything in before about 11am. Even water, I just feel tight, tight tight... But come about 11am I feel better and then time for breakie/lunch. Making sure to get enough fluid in. Yesterday was 6-7 bags of fluid. I feel quite bloated really...
Anyway enough about me!!, how are all the new bandits going?? Good luck for this weeks bandits.
Time for me to go read some more and put names to posts, can't view whole pages on the mobile so will need to re read a few pages...lol
Chat soon!!
Welcome home Mrs Fed and glad you are better xx

Hi breakNegg... my instructions from the dietician for the 2 week pre-op Optifast was to have any flavour other than Coffee as it contained too much caffine and it was extremely important to detox from that before the surgery.
Not sure if you have purchased the shakes as yet but i can honestly say that the Chocolate are the best. I tried all flavours and after have 2 mouthfuls of the vanilla i declared that i would rather be obese for the rest of my life than eat that again. absolutely horrid!!
In regard to the book, i am in NSW so i cant help you on that one.
Regards and best wishes,
Nyssa
Bumma I purchased the Vanilla , so I went to Chemist in Esperance and purchased a mult lavour shake pack but an exhorbanant price (usual for the country)

Columbine - I am so happy to still be feeding bub.. not sure about the quality at the moment though. Thankfully he can sup from his diet. He has always refused a bottle and formula and even dummys... my most successful yet out of 4. Of course, I had to have a cow ticker lol.

Hi Lindy, yes l also get frustrated that l cant do as much for myself b4 getting tired. I have alot of left shoulder pain which is unbearable at times and laying down seems to help along with some pain killers. Also finding it hard to find that comfortable spot to lie in, l go to sleep and wake up in the same position. Must say though this has improved over the last day or so. Im now 5days post op, no interest in food at all, even the smell of food cooking doesnt seem the same as l remember it.

I have really noticed the variances in surgeons advice through this forum, so be mindful of that! For example, the surgeon I had doesn't think optifast is required pre op, he is def in the minority there!

Moomad I had given up sorting my ticker out but managed it after your post, so thanks. Had to follow Moomad's instructions about copying and pasting the 'pseudoHTML' version of the code for it to work, not sure if that would help Rose Petal?
I'm really getting into some long walks now, have been all over the place lately, even ended up going for a very long walk with toddler in pram till it got dark but I kept on walking and walking.......................oh yes, that's right I got lost.

Hi Stace, l am also 6 days post op. Yes l do get that feeling in my stomach kinda like a baby moving around in there. Although its not painful it is a weird sensation. I get left shoulder pain, do you get this? or anyone else get this shoulder pain? Apart from that lm feeling pretty good although its still hard for me to drink much, l need to get some vitamins into me. I think l have associated this shoulder pain with drinking my fluids and it puts me off drinking.
