Thank you and i hope to hear how your journey goes along!
Are you a public or private patient? I ask only as i am confused about costs..I am public and at first i was told it was free besides the first consultation..but now i have found it that it will cost $1250 for aftercare, $200 for psych and then not sure about dietician..
Are these similar fees to yourself? I am happy to pay its just that others have stated that they do not need to pay..
Thanks and good luck..

Hi Dingosrun congrats on your decision to get banded.. How exciting! When is your surgery date? Not sure we all seem to have similar costs whether it be some or non.. Maybe it is a current thing that has come in..maybe it dep[ends on circumstances on the cost? not sure but am lloking forard to my banding date regardless.....
Thanks for your rewply and hope to keep in touch ...

Hi Success,
I'll be a March bandit, March 29th by Ray Mc Henry at Knox Private.
Just have the dietician and pshychologist appointments now. Starting Optifast @ 14th March. It's all so exciting, I have watched my hubby loose more than 75kg in 18 months through lap banding, and can't wait for my own journey to truly begin.

I look forward to sharing this exciting time with all the other March Bandits!!

Hi all I am hoping that I will have a March date. I meet with the surgeon on 27th Feb and I am anticipating he will then do the op in 2 to 4 weeks after that. I must say that I am very calm about all of this. Perhaps it is because I have not got a date set yet.
I wonder what the final moment was that made you all decide to get a band? My husband is on a car forum where one of the guys had a band done a couple of years ago, this was the first it hit my radar. Then without thinking about it in between I had lunch with a girlfriend of mine and her beauty therapist had recently had it done and was down more than 20kg and was feeling great. Something just snapped and I decided to get it done. Rang my health insurer and they said I would be covered except for the out of pockets (I realise this is potentially thousands) and I thought so what am I waiting for?
Not waiting for another failed diet which was going to be "the one" that this magical will power would take me past the 6kg loss mark (where I stick and give up).
So I made the appointment to see the doctor the next day and have a 3 week wait for the surgeon.
I am loving this forum and have read the entire Feb forum which took me hours. I hope that we have a great supportive group for March. In Feb they are keeping track of op dates and I am happy to do this for our group.
Good luck to all March bandits!

Howdy all I'm going to stick my nose in on the March Bandits because I'm getting banded on the 29th Feb.
So hopefully I will be able to help out with questions and answers if I can.

Good luck and enjoy the Optifast stage I am...lol

Hi Everyone, it's great to see some action finally happening in the March Bandits!!! Like you Sharm, I spent hours reading through the November bandits though, and thought Wow, a support network like that would be fantastic, lets hope we can start one!
I have been considering banding for quite a few years. My Hubby was done in Sept 2010, and initially I was supposed to be done in the December the same year, but for some reason I just saw it as giving up, and me being a failure cause I couldn't lose the weight on my own. It has taken some serious soul searching and a considerable diet effort to convince the emotional part of my brain that this is not giving up, but giving myself the ultimate control tool. Now I see March 29th as the first day of the rest of my life, and feel like I am just kind of treading water until I get there.

Lets hope some more March Bandits jump on board and share their journey!!

Lana perhaps as people's ops dates are set we will get some company! I went to lunch with a girlfriend of mine today and told her that I was considering banding and she was basically very supportive. I wasn't going to tell anyone but I agree with you that we all need a support network - so ours have started. Are you telling people you are having the op?

Robski it is funny because on any other of the last 3 years you would have been a March bandit too! We will watch how you go with your journey with great interest.

Hi Sharm, my hubby was very open about his journey with everyone, but I have only told a few close family members and my boss at work. I have decided if anyone asks I'll tell them I'm having gender reassignment surgery and hope they get the hint! My hubby and Kids are very supportive of my decision, but my mother is a totally different story! Funny cause she's the one that's told me my whole life that it's tome to do something about my weight.

Hi All,

Well I was going to be an April bandit but as of today I got moved forward and I am now a March bandit. Im being banded 27th of March in Sydney.

I've been on Optifast for dinner for 3 weeks now, with normal brekky and lunch. It was something I wanted to do to give myself a kick start and get used to the Optifast and get used to feeling a bit hungry. I've lost 6 kg since then say the scales, but it seems a lot to me. Different scales do different readings though, so it may be inaccurate but I feel the difference in my clothes. Should probably do some measurements!

Anyway, just wanted to say hi!

Hi Leapin I am not brave enough to tell mum in case she is not supportive of the band. She has always been supportive I just don't want to strike disapproval at this stage as I am still vulnerable on the decision. As for work I am not saying anything there. I am sure as I gain confidence I will but now is not the time.

Lovely to have you join us MissA. I have started on shakes for breakfast and lunch and having normal dinner. See how I go with that.
Hopefully we won't be fed up when we have to be on shakes.

Have a good night everyone x

Thanks for the welcome!

Ive told a small group of close friends, including my boss and 2 colleagues plus my parents. More than anything for me I dont want people going 'shouldnt you not be eating that' or 'shouldnt you eat this' so im keeping it mostly to myself.
