The best advice I could possibly give to anyone embarking on a lap banding journey is to take lots of 'before' photos. I didn't and I'm so sorry now.
I would love to have lots of pictures of the overhanging tummy, the chins, the dimply thighs, the love handles, and the arse bigger than two axe handles - but this is all I've got!
Attached is a very recent photo. It is of me giving the Principal's address at my school's recent graduation. I know there's too much jewellery and too much fake tan for a girl (who are you kidding!!) about to turn 60 , but there is nonetheless a distinct and visible improvement.
I'm not 'there' yet - wherever 'there' is. I'm still the same person with the same complex relationship I've always had with food. I suspect that will always be the case!
Kate.

Congratulations on the weight loss, regardless of all the stuff going on underneath that white outfit, you look amazing! And very brave wearing white, I am so envious. I still 'hide' in black.

I am another that didn't take a before photo. Very dissappointing, as I have forgotten how big I was at that stage, so its become very difficult to compare...

Keep it up and yes I understand where you are coming from with the relationship to food comment. My head is still in the wrong place.

Inspirational!

You are looking great! And before photos are definitely a must. Even if you never see them until you are ready! Get someone to take the before photos and put them somewhere safe on the computer so you don't even have to look at them until the time comes :) I only took photos after 2 weeks of Opti, I lost 6kg on Opti so even that was annoying that I don't have my 'true' before photos.

You are looking simply awesome. And as for the jewellery - flaunt it - so people will look and see how awesome you are.

Kate, unfortunately the photo's wont open for me, maybe it is because I am on a Mac? What I DO know is that you have the right attitude towards the band, and have made it work for you, and I am sure that same attitude has made you carry your head high, I bet you look like a million dollars. And hey, I wear too much jewellery (I sell it for a living!), and the fake tan is now slapped on seeing as I dont have as much surface area to cover haha.

You go mate, you deserve to flaunt it!!!

Thank you all so much for such lovely feedback!
An interesting aside is that I showed the post and all the subsequent comments to my husband. I usually spare him from conversations related to lapbanding. (He's immensely supportive, but glazes over when I try to describe the consistency of a PB, the feeling of restriction or telling what my band is doing on a particular day.)
His comment on my post was to ask why I need to constantly apologise for myself (Read the original post where I talk about too much gold jewelery and fake tan). It's an interesting response. I don't know the answer, but I expect I'm not the only one who does this.

This ties in with my thoughts on the psychology of weight loss and being in control. Feeling that you are in control of your life. Your control over your food intake mirrors your positive life attitude. You wear the bling etc. because you can carry it off well, you have the confidence and why shouldn't you? Looking great Kate! Jill.

You are very inspiring indeed.

I'm another that would love to have an embarassing before photo, preferably in some form fitting tights with an accompanying muffin top. Sad, isn't it.

A you look great! Well done. Also i really admire your level headedness about this whole process.
B What do you mean too much jewelery? I was expecting something really gaudy. You look stylish!!
C Yep the apology thing is really interesting. I thought that when I posted about needing encouragement the other day like I was burdening ppl. We need to embrace ourselves!
