Hello!
Happy New Year!
Seems to be a few people posting problems at the moment and some great advice being shared so I hope you don't mind if I add my little problem to the mix!
I've been banded 9ish months and have been doing well, it's been a while since my last fill and my next apointment is in mid January (I have emailed the clinic but not sure the emails will be checked till next week).
Over the last week or so I've had trouble with the hiccips, more the combination of hiccuping and burping almost at the same time when I'm eating. It is really painful and has turned into some awful stuck episodes. It has happened when I've been carefully chew chew chewing and waiting the full 2 minutes between mouthfuls. The food I've been eating hasn't caused issues before and has not been dry or tough.
After it happens nothing much at all will pass through comfortably...I'm currenlty sipping on some coffee!
My questions:
Does anyone know what would be causing the hiccups (I've never hiccuped much before)
Anyone had this happen to them? If so, what did you do.
Any tips (apart from relaxing) do release the band?
Don't think a trip to the hospital is needed at this point!
Thanks
S

I'm not sure what causes it, I'm only 2 weeks post op but have had the same problem, I was wondering if certain foods and drinks were a trigger? Certain juices and foods seem to be worse than others for me. May e someone else has the answer for us!

I get it all the time so annoying but for me it's a sign that I'm full I get chest pain with it sometimes. But Craig says just stop eating and try to relax sometimes I have it for 10 minutes or longer then it just goes I have a hot drink helps,

I don't have hiccups plural, but I am getting this burp/hiccup thing that is totally uncontrollable but actually feels good when it happens, feels like it comes from my boots

I have this when I eat too quickly or talk too much whilst I am eating - generally means I have inhaled too much air and it's trapped.
When this happens I stop eating and if I am full I stop and if I am still hungry I try and start eating once the hicup/burps are finished - it's my only negative with the band.

Air....of course....
Hmmm...does the air always come out as a PB? Or if you stop and wait does it just work its way out??

I do this all the time, usually if I'm eting too quickly, eaten too much or aren't chewing well enough. I have been told it is very commen for bandits to hiccup more as the stomach can touch the diaghragm much easier than non-bandits. Whether this is true or not I don't know but it makes sense to me!

Sorry, I can't help either because I can't remember ever hiccuping or burping but on the bright side just be thankful you're not also farting at the same time.

Makes perfect sense actually =)
I often get the hurps (hiccup/burp), not to be confused with "herps" as some poor family members have confused it with, if i've eaten too quickly or swollowed too much air whilst eating.
