Hi Everybody I have my surgery date of the 2nd of March!!!.. 2 weeks of Optifast which is normal, the nicest thing that happened was my surgeon noticed how much I already had lost and that gave me a boost to know that I had done well losing the 35 kilos so far by myself! ( which for me used to mean that I would gain back so much more over time last time I went on a serious diet I got down to 98 kilos but then gained 70 kilos) Hence the lap band option for me .
I am nervous but figure that the benefits of loosing the weight and getting used to the new way of eating is going to take time and I just need to follow the instructions and not get to obsessive about the weight lose at first!. Fingers crossed I dont have any severe reactions to the band and I adjust easily, oh the nicest thing was the nurse told me that I could ring them at anytime if I was unsure of something and needed advice, I find that a huge help to know I do have someone else to refer too!.... Now Matt dont eat too much over the next two weeks get used to the small portions and eating slow..... I feel that it is going to be ace to be able one day buy regular clothing that does not need to be from the big mans store 127 for shorts and 132 for tshirts. I cant wait...

Congratulations on your date. I'm aiming for a March banding too. Am seeing the surgeon again on Monday, so we'll see what happens.

Yay!

Hi everyone, I've been reading posts for a month or so now and seeing as someone has started a March Bandits topic, I thought id join in!
I am being banded by Draper at end of march and am finding the wait really hard now. I've been waiting since I took out my insurance 11 months ago! I have 50 kg to loose and by the time surgery comes around will probably have more to lose as I'm struggling to control my eating at this point due to having things for the 'last time' and feeling sorry for myself. Looking forward to getting in the right headspace soon . I look forward to hearing from more march bandits and thank everyone for such forthcoming advice and encouragement on this site: )

Mudsea, I am having my band installed on the 2nd of March also, I have already started on the optifast I wanted to give mysdelf a bit more of a kick along before the op hopefully it works out that way. The poor dog doesnt know whats hit him I have always taken him for a walk once a day but recently I have upped that to two walks a day so he is suffering with me.

I got my surgery date today 8 MARCH 2012!! woohooo

Its in the arvo as there were some issues with getting an Anaesthetist due to some national conference coming up in March/April sometime. I cant wait but Im also apprehensive as I have just started a new job and although they know im keen on doing it in the next 2-3 months I didnt expect to be booked in for 4.5 weeks time. My appointment today was also meant to be on Friday so Im taking between now and next Monday on how to tell work. Also.... my boss knows someone that was banded that needed 4 weeks off work... Im looking at 1-2 weeks max off.

Hi Everybody, I am so nervous about the op it is constantly on my mind and I go through the cycle what if should I and so on,,, lol.... All of it is normal though I know I just have to focus on the fact that I need to plan it out in my head so I know after the operation that I am doing the right thing for me. Welcome to everyone else and great to see that there is a fair number for March so far.. I just hope it is not too painful Chicken that I am it plays a big part of my fear.

Hi all I am hoping to have a March date also. I meet with a surgeon in Ballarat on the 27th of Feb and I am hoping that he has space to fit me in soon. I look forward to sharing the journey with you all. If you post when and where you are becoming bandits I will keep an up to date schedule that should help us to follow everyone's progress.
I am toying with starting optifast early to help weight loss but the more I read this seems a little unwise as I may be over it by the time I need to do it pre op.

Thanks Sharman :-) well this weekend is my last supper LOL I am having a dinner date with family on Saturday night which will be the last time we eat out for a very long time. I am a bit nervous about the op and I dont know how i am going to go with the shakes as could never stick to them for one day but this site has given me some good itdeas on how to drink them ie very cold and with ice, which is good cause i love cold drinks. I have a lot of support from work as well as they all know and are ready to jump on me if i give up lol which i wont cause I have to do it. Anyway have a great weekend and heres to a new life :-)

Goodluck with the shakes Jayshay, I tried one in the hope of doing them for 4 weeks instead of 2 for a bit of a head start but decided after trying one that 2 weeks would be hard enough so will wait! I do however feel like I am absolutely capable of the 2 weeks being achieved this time, but in the past would never have got past the 2nd or 3rd day. When I start mine in 2 weeks I will be honest and report if i fail once or twice!!

Oh and Sharmon if your reading and want to change the list, my banding date is 20th of March.

Ooohhhh, we have a list!! Thanks Sharman, it's all very real now. I have 6 weeks until surgery, but plan to start one shake a day for two weeks, then two for two weeks until the dreaded full meal replacement for the last two weeks. I plan to have all my favourite foods over the weekend, and that's it........ onto the new life!

Well Tomorrow is the big day as per instructions I have to be there by 06:30 am and I am nervous as all heck at the moment I doubt I will get much sleep tonight, I did stock up on loads of soups and up and gos so I wont need to leave the house for a week just in case the pain is bad. I hope everyone else who is due soon has no problems I had to go and get a sleep apnea test at the last minute, now I am back on the breathing machine at night which is a pain as it gave me a worse night sleep than without it. I have my heat pack and hope that relieves a lot of the pain as I dont do pain well!. Well enough about me talk to you all after the op. Matt
