Metamucil should be the first thing the surgeon tells you after the operation, bad constipation at the moment sorry if tmi but everyone should be aware to stock up I am going to be taking metamucil everyday from now obn as I nearly passed out lol... I have never been so clogged up until now and not happy to discover this is a side effect. My pain comes and goes but I was only given panadeine soluble when I left the hospital, so finished those off. Heed my advice newbies metamucil for before the op a day or two and after the op continue ...... Sorry to go on but just needed to share in the hope of no one else having to endure the pain. Matt

Good advise Matt, I was given this same advice before emergency c-section with my first child and it certainly made a difference, I'll remember to do that before my op. How are you finding the pain? is panadine cutting it or do you feel you need more?

Good luck Craig, get a hot pack or hot water bottle for after the op as it helps with shoulder pain, I used mine the first night in hospital it was an instant relief!. Matt

darls its from the gas they use during ur surgery to inflate ur belly! after it, t rises to ur shoulders! the best thing for it i have found is a heat pack and lay down wth it and the pain will go away eventually! hope this helps! x

Hi Leanne, good luck with your appt. on thursday you'll be fine. I was banded 16th march with Dr Dolan so i'm still in the recovery stage but i'm going well. I went for my first walk today 1.2km and felt good afterwards. Everything will go very quickly for you. After my first appt. (16th Feb ) i was booked in straight away and only had to have a blood test. He only operates out of Mercy once a month so thats why i had to wait but if i chose Glengarry he was doing it in a couple of days, he also operates out of other hospitals too but i don't know the wait list. Good Luck :)
