Gosh Rosmay, incredibly frustrating for you.
I had some more fill put in today and each time I get adjusted the surgeon pulls the lot out and checks the amount to make sure there are no leaks. Today I'm ready to take on the world again after having 2ml taken out a month ago due to whooping cough (very unpleasant that cough!) and feeling as though the band didn't exist and wolfing down everything that wasn't nailed down and then 1ml replaced 2 weeks ago -better but I could still eat anything in large quantities. The other 1ml today brings me to 12.5ml in my band (I asked- and I can still have another .5ml to fill to capacity) and suddenly the hunger is all gone. I put on 3kg with the fill out and maintained with the 1ml 2 weeks ago. Here's to going back to losing again (I hope!!) Just goes to show how variable the sweet spot is for different people.
Had a nice meet yesterday with the Sydney crew who turned up. Poor Debbie had one mouthful of hers and off to the loo for a bit of relief :( So that was the end of lunch for her. Every one there had experienced a situation like hers, so nobody turned a hair, just nodded and remembered doing the same at some point. I think the waitress was a bit bemused by the small quantities of food consumed by everyone.
Raining again here-yes still! It's either humid and sunny or pouring.

I remember watching it on TV and couldn't believe what was happening. Everytime the TV went to different sites hoping for survivor's it was devastating and you just wanted them to find someone. Christchurch is such a pretty town and I have lovely memories of visiting it. I hope they all have been able to start getting back on with their lives and that the pain of loss is slowly diminishing.

It has been a hard day. We nearly lost our son in the earthquake and I have struggled to watch any of the news broadcasts. I keep wanting to cry. Warrick is currently watching one of documentaries while I quietly ignore it.
I hope things get better for all those who lost people but also for those who are still there. I sobbed like a baby when the Air New Zealand help desk man said they would put our David on the plane even if he didn't have the cash. I cannot imagine what life is like for those who are still there.
As Rosmay said, "Kia kaha, Canterbury"

Today is 4 years since I lost my son. He died as a result of not managing his diabetes correctly (Type 1-but a late diagnosis) When I read of people on here with the disease I just hope they realise it can kill you if not managed appropriately. He was 29 and bullet proof and decided he no longer needed the insulin because he felt really well for the first time in months.

Type 2 can go into remission as Neddy and a couple of others here have found and so "easy" to do with weight loss. it is an insidious disease but the tools are there for those with it to be managed and weight loss is one of the biggies.
RIP my beautiful boy.

My sincerest condolences to you Oz! I cant imagine what it would be like to be in your situation to have lost a grown son :-( I love though that you are able to speak out and remind us all of the seriousness of diseases such as Diabetes and how we should all be extremely careful when managing illness. My thoughts are with you and you family xx

Ozchick, I also cannot imagine losing a child. You are right about the diabetes. While my blood sugars are very well managed now, my diabetes specialist nurse is reluctant to say I am free of it because diabetes is one of those things that responds well to management (in most cases) but can just as easily slip backwards.
I appreciate that you can speak about what happened and my thoughts are with you.

Thanks for the hugs.
I do try and tell anyone that has diabetes to be compliant with their meds. Unfortunately young men often have a "honeymoon" period where they feel really well after finally getting the right treatment and ignore the protocols that get them there in the first place. Suddenly to have time consuming stuff like blood testing, monitoring carb intake and insulin dose, it becomes a daily chore they become complacent about.

I hear you OzChick.... It is often the case with all sorts of meds etc.... If only people could understant that they are only feeling better because of the meds, not inspite of them :(

Well here we are coming to the end of the weekend once again (and also heading for the end of the month) my the time flys..
I have had a loverly weekend yesterday my eldest son Rick went in the across the lake swim (first one) 3.8 kilometers ..he did well under 2 hours and NOT LAST.. I am down loading some pix to photobucket and will share later..Joe, David and I went to the lake and after he left in the ferry for the other side we took the girls to macca`s for a breakfast and a coffee (for us) then back to enjoy the foreshore while we waited the swimmers return the first lot started coming out after 45mins so quick..any way when Rick made it we then all came back to our place for lunch and the kids enjoyed the afternoon in the pool..a great day by all...Today we slept late had a nice lazy breakie then went out for a drive , home again now got the washing in and ready to have a easy dinner steak and eggs..:)
I hope everyone has had a nice weekend and all new Bandits are doing well ..good luck to those last of Februarys Bandits having their ops next week....
