Hi There,

Name is Craig - and i'm just running through the myriad of tests they do before I can be Lap Banded.
Have been lurking now for a few weeks, getting a general feel for the forums - looking forward to chatting to some of you :)

I will be banded by Paul Ah-Tye of Complete Weight Loss Surgery in Melbourne - really nice surgeon, very happy with my choice of surgeon so far. I guess I will know better in the next few weeks when the banding actually takes place.

I suffer from Depression and Schizophrenia (Nice Combo eh?) and have been treated for the last 10/15 years now. Unfortunately that has helped my weight problem along - and I now sit just below 190KG's. Really excited to start losing the weight I have gained for a great portion of my life.

While I haven't been given my supply of Optifast yet, I've decided to charge ahead and start it anyway. Guess I should get use to diet restrictions with the band, so this is as good a place as any to start. Day three, and starting to feel much better I must say. First few days were murder, so hungry, headaches, etc..... Very Yucky.

Anyway, looking forward to meeting you all :)

Cheers,
Craig

Welcome to the forum Craig, and congrats on your decision to become a bandit! Also, well done on starting the Opti phase early, not an easy thing to do, I know I certainly dreaded it.

You will receive much support on here, and we look forward to hearing about your journey.

Hi Craig

Sorry to hear of your schizophrenia and depression. Meds for schizophrenia are well known for causing weight gain. As are some of the ones for depression, as I found out first hand. Not much of a trade off is it? Still quality of life is important. I worked in community mental health for a while and I remember a client who could not find medication that worked for him. When he did he wasn't able to stay on it because the side effects were major. Glad you are doing so well.

Anyhow, welcome to the forum. It's always good to be able to talk to other bandits.

Good luck :)
Junior

Hi Craig.
Congratulations. I was also banded by Mr Paul Ah Tye in November 2011. I had no problems whatsoever and found him to be a perfect gentleman. All the staff at CWLS are fantastic, too. I wish you all the best for the future. Please contact me if you need any further information.
Regards, Gillian.

Welcome,

Its weird Optifast start of pretty disgusting, probably cause we are used to high calorie foods, but most people seem to have it as their breakfast of choice afterwards.

Good luck with everything!

Good luck with your journey.
I agree with Dingosrun, it's good to have more blokes aboard.
