My name is Jo. I'm 39 yrs old and have been overweight/obese my whole life. At my heaviest (Oct 2011) I was 145kgs and at 165cms was really feeling the strain.
My story is so much like a lot of other people on this site.... tried just about every diet around and coupled with extreme exercise managed to get myself down to around
96kgs at one point. But have never EVER managed to maintain the reduced weight.
It was about 6 mths ago that I started entertaining the idea of banding..... and after much research and stalking forums,
have finally taken the first steps towards getting banded. Yay me!!!
Had the first appt with the surgeon this week - Peter Nottle - and have appointments made for the assessment over the next few weeks.
I haven't decided on a surgery date yet - but it will definitely be within the next 3 mths.
I am so excited, a little scared, and mostly just feel READY to start the way to a better HEALTHIER me.
Have been told to do 3 wks of Optifast - so NOT looking forward to that - but I know that this is just the first step of my banding 'journey' and such a small amount of time
when you look at the long term benefits of losing weight and becoming healthier.
I have learnt so much from all of you already, and I really look forward to becoming a 'Bandit' and sharing my progress, ups and downs with you all !!!!
Bring It On !!!
