Hi all,

I've had my band put in by Dr Dolan in Perth on the 9th February 2012. I have been taking clear fluids the first day post op and has started consuming things like V8 juice, drinking yoghurt and tinned soup. I must say that I'm not really hungry just yet and is very gassy. I cannot get Degas atm but wil get some tomorrow when I go to town. Is there any home degas remedies that anyone knows of?

That's really normal. All the gas they use to blow up your stomach during surgery has to go somewhere! Did you ever take anything for reflux preop? I found that helped me. Peppermint water helps too.
I didn't feel hungry for the first few days, but hunger returns.

Hi abbie84

What did you take for reflux preop? I haven't taken anything for that whilst on optifast.

Having a slowwwww sip at my V8 juice at the moment.

Thanks for the reply!

I took occational nexium pre op, but that's a prescription med. I'd think that any calcium carbonate product such as quick eze may help, but really letting it pass and using degas is what will really help.

Yep, peppermint tea. We give our patients peppermint water in hospital but don't have a clue where you get it from (at work it just magically appears in our fridge).
