Hi all,

I am 5 days post surgery without any complications at all and feeling great!

I just wanted to see whether it was normal to be able to feel the port so close under your skin. I knew that I would be able to feel it to a certain degree so as to enable them to conduct fills but didnt think it would be that close.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Niss

Yep, I could feel mine right after surgery, a hard, round lump. Mine now sticks out quite prominently...

Thanks Danielle. I could only just start feeling it from yesterday afternoon. I did have a fair bit of swelling though.

It is definitely well and truely there and i must say it is a bit of an odd feeling.

Yeah, it does feel strange, but i am used to mine now. I do have to be careful though, I am always bumping it on the edge of the kitchen counter, a subtle reminder that I am a Bandit hehe. In actual fact, I noticed a few weeks ago that I can now feel the tubing that runs off my port, before it disappears into the middle section.

Yep. Unfortunately it is very normal. It has taken me a while to get used to the feeling. It should feel less prominent once your scar has healed a little. Good luck!

Hi, it is normal I can feel mine. It did hurt for about 3 weeks after the op. Every now and then I bump it but it is all good had no issues with it.

Mine is right under the skin, so it's very prominent even with 24ish kg to lose. I actually like it being there, it's a good reminder of what I'm doing! (snap, Danielle!)

Things like leaning into the fig tree to pick the figs in the middle and pushing the port on a branch or reaching to clean back benches and walls at work, that's when you know its there. I hope it's sturdy and not easily damaged or displaced?

I'm 5 days post bandit as well and this morning I rolled over in bed and felt something click or sort of change lodgements. Is really hard to explain but I'm hoping madly that it hasn't turned over or something. It was sort of like when you click you knee or shoulder and you feel that lodgement go back in, sort of like that moving where the port is. I'm due to see the Dr in 2 weeks so hoping that it hasn't turned, or is that something that anyone else has noticed.

But since this morning, I don't know if its from the clicking, or if my stomach swelling is starting to go down, but I can feel a hard lump now. I''m glad you posted this as I was starting to worry myself a little bit.

For me it's normal to feel it! I like to freak people out and make them touch it lol. Everyone is different though and if you're really concerned go back to your Doctor sooner :-)

JAg i had that when i was first banded that "clicking " sound. dont want to scare you but when i went for my fill it had flipped. so i was back under getting restitched.
i was bending over picking up toys when it clicked. did it a few times.
hopefully this doesnt happen to you

I always find myself checking a few times throughout the day that it is still there. Reminds me of the reasons I did it and keeps me in check

Mine has moved and is in different positions all the time. Barium swallow confirmed it has done some funny dance moves on it's own but Dr has been able to manipulate each time. Hopefully don't have to go under to get it re stitched

I had a fill today, 2 more mls to take me to 6 in 9ml band. The port had twisted a bit so Dr had to have a couple of stabs . I hope this doesn't mean future problems. Anyway have a bit of a wound & a bandaid. Feel kind of like I have a tablet stuck in my throat at the moment, just doing alot of swallowing, have been sipping water and will have some miso later. When I'm lying on my back in bed my port is easy to feel.

I can feel mine quite easily. It is actually visible now that I've lost a fair bit of weight. You shouldn't be concerned, it makes it easier to be filled.
