Had my op on Thursday 16 Feb and was let home the next day. Was desperate to get out of there because I felt trapped and out of control (yep, I got issues being a patient). Appart from the bloody wind pain everything was fine and still is... I think. I am getting a lot of wind coming up as burps and every now and then when I burp and it comes up the wrong way I can feel the band tugging on my stomach. Its fairly painful and very unsettling. Did other people go through this too or is it something I need to get checked? I know everything needs time to settle down in there but it is starting to freak me out a little. Probably being a sook but advice would be nice

Hi guys, looking for some reassurance or advice to get my ass in to see someone.

Hi Columbine, I didnt have that specifically but I did have lots of weird painful sensations throughout my body. Ring the surgeon for piece of mind.. I felt a tugging on my left hand side that was painful and is still sometimes painful.
Youre not a sook either...I rang the surgeons office about 5 times in a week after my band... thats what they r there for.

Columbine, I had a similiar feeling - I was saying to the people around me that I could feel every single mouthful of liquid going down my oesphagus & through the band. I was burping a lot too & that hurt. Eventually the sensation stopped, or changed to the heavy feeling in between my boobs & at the back of my throat - I ended up having .8ml of fill out which relieved the discomfort.

Hiccups have been hurting me.. and that is even if I have had nothing... Jomal, from my previous band I can tell you that you learn to 'read' your band. You will come to know the feeling of food passing through, 'popping' through, mucous building (therefore likely to vomit or get 'sticking' pain) and then the plain old 'full' sensation... and over time the discomfort (except if food sticks) either settles or your body just doesn't interpret it as 'discomfort' any more. I really missed my last band after it was gone. For those that never felt what 'full' was like until you get a band, I can tell you it is harder once you experience it and then have to experience life without a band. I think part of the reason I gained weight so quickly after it was removed was because I was seeking that feeling... at least prior to banding my mind told me 'yeah, you might like more but you should probably stop'.... with a band it is just 'stop, seriously, or you won't like the consequences!!'... band out it is 'please, tell me when to stop.. now.. or now... or maybe now??'....

Columbine,
I was banded on the 6th, all of the gas pain has gone thank goodness. I have turned into a world class belcher though
, I am still getting, not pain but an uncomfortable pressure at times in the middle of my breast bone, sometimes the way i sit gives me a biting or stinging sensation where i think my port is.
If i try to sleep on my right side it feels like it is pulling, a really wierd sensation, for a former side/stomach sleeper it is hard to get used to sleeping on my back.
Today when i was in the shower, i bent over to shave my legs, it really hurt, so until i talk to the dr next monday, it will be hairy legs for me!
It is worrying to feel that, but i am sure it is all part of the healing process, after all it is a foreign object inside our bodies that our insides have to get used to i guess.

I've been banded for 4 years and the tugging goes away. Obviously its a new piece of equipment inside of you so the body adjusts and eventually forgets its there.
In all honesty you will be forever more acutely aware of digestion. I still to this day feel every mouthful going down through the band. Its not painful or anything but you are aware that something is going through. It becomes second nature. In my mind its worth it for the weight I've lost.
