Hi Everyone,

I've been banded for close to 12 months now and have only lost 14 kilos. Am still happy with that as it's definitely less than I would have weighed 1 year ago! Lately though I've realised (by tracking my food through myfitnesspal) that although I'm eating a lot less in volume, I'm making some really stupid choices nutrient-wise and my calorie intake is quite crazy some days. I think some of this is because since the band, I have horrendous reflux. For example, never had a sweet tooth before, yet now I eat chocolate etc. I see my surgeon and dietician every month to get the right adjustment to combat this but its a slow process.

My questions are, does anyone follow a specific program like weight watchers in combination with the band and would you advise it?

Thanks for all your great posts generally. I find them so helpful and inspirational.

Em

I have been watching a lot of YouTubers who have been banded and the ones that seem to do the best are low carb and high protein diets on top of watching calorie intake. I myself will be working this way as its the only way in the past I have lost weight and now with the band it will make it easier to eat less and make better choices without the feeling of starving.

Sometimes I even forget I have a band and eating healthy now comes naturally, no longer do I crave the bad foods so no dieting necessary.
Just eat healthy and smaller meals, my success has been from the help of my brilliant dietician, lots of exercise and since my type 2 diabetes is in remission I'm firing on all cylinders.

Thanks for the replies people. Much appreciated. Sometimes I think I've read so much about eating plans I just mix them all up - shakes in the morning, atkins for lunch, weight watchers for dinner. My combinations aren't working so well ;-)

Congratulations Neddybear on your success. I love a good news story.
