Hi everyone.

I got my band in March last year. All went well.... after a process of filing and emptying, I got my band right at the sweet spot. I lost 27 kgs.. all great.

A few months ago.... I can’t' really explain what happened, but I think I subconsciously started eating more of the easy to eat (i.e. icecream, creamy desserts etc). Which I can eat without any problem. Then came the holiday period, with parties, drinking etc......So basically, for the last three months I've been consuming liquid and other easy calories... and have lost nothing... In fact I've put on a few kgs!!!!

ARRGGGGHHHHH

I know what's happening is psychological, and I've got an appointment with a psychologist in a few weeks....
... but I thought I'd put myself out there!

Is there anyone else who's shared a similar situation??? What have you done??? Any advice????

Thank you very much for sharing!!!!

Mardie

I am struggling with the same thing. It's all mental and only years of Psych work will help, which is hard to get a grip on in itself.

I went through the same over the Xmas period and although still exercising I only lost 1kg over that 2 month period.
What I've now done is increased the exercise and stopped eating the the soft foods and I'm now back on track and unless I lose at least 4 kgs over the next 4 weeks and stop eating the softies there will be no new car.

I started to self sabotage a few months ago after a very long plateau, I really am my own worst enemy! I started snacking again, and very quickly found myself gaining weight. I decided to "punish" myself by doing the optifast phase again for a week, and it kind of cleansed me of the snacking habit. Once I had finished the week, I started to appreciate the "acceptable", healthy food again, and this got me back on track.

Hope that helps

I'm in exactly the same place at the moment. I've fallen into a place where I'm living almost entirely on chocolate and I'm ashamed.

I got banded just before you in Feb 2011 and I've lost just under 30kgs since then which I'm so proud of but I'm not living a healthy lifestyle and I've made it perfectly acceptable to live on unhealthy foods just because I'm not consuming many calories. Some day's I consume only 600-700 cals but all of them are made up of sugar.

I haven't gained any weight but I also haven't lost any in the last month or so and I'm frustrated. I know what I'm doing wrong and I know how to fix it but I'm struggeling to find the determination that I had in ubundance this time last year.

As of today I'm back on opti twice a day with a proper meal for dinner.

Maybe you could try it aswell...... we can do it together.

oh gawd.. its like looking in the mirror reading all your posts.. I too am in the same frame of mind atm - hence my grumpiness

After a flying start I feel as though I too have just stalled and although I am not gaining it seems to be taking forever to shift .. I really want to hit the 30kg loss to get over this mental hump I am going through

Wow, this is a biggie and seems to hit all of us at some time or another. I have been through a couple of decent plateaus and have found a couple of things work:

1. Stick to 3 meals a day - plan them
2. Increase my water intake
3. Vary my exercise - this idea came from Kelly and I found it invaluable. I now see a personal trainer, but you could easily swap from walking to swimming to walking uphill to riding a bike - whatever floats your boat
4. Check your sneaky carbohydrate intake - I have found that if eating sugary stuff (which is carbohydrate) there are others that sneak in - crackers, bread etc

These are the things that work for me and everyone is an individual. I think above all be absolutely honest with yourself about what you are eating - I sometimes found myself saying, "I don't know why my weight is not moving." The reality is that if I had been honest I would have said that my weight is not moving because I was eating poorly.

I hope things start moving soon.
Take care
Donna

Oh I know the feeling, except I've been battling whooping cough since mid December. I've manage to limit the damage to a 3kg gain, mainly because I've been too sick to do any of my normal exercise and am living on comfort food like chicken soup.

I know how ever that's it's going to be at least another 6 to 8 weeks before I can even contemplate getting 'back to normal' as I need to slowly build my fitness level and muscle tone back up. Over the past 2 and a half months, all the hard I work I put in last year has just diss appeared :-(

Thank you for everyone posting on this... I've been feeling like a criminal, because I went to the trouble and expense of having the band, and now I'm not loosing... I don't feel like a total alien now. It seems to be a stage that a lot of bandits go through. Hopefully the psychologist will be of help.. I have an appointment in just under two weeks. Think I'm going to do the Opti thing for a few weeks as well.... start from scratch so to speak.

Thanks again everyone!

:)

I'm in the same boat. Been banded since august so have lost 25 kgs but since December have not list any weight coz I'm having slider foods such as chocolate and ice cream quite a bit. I really need to get back on track as want to lose 6 kgs by April. :-(((

It's the damn sweet tooth. I got over it, made great food choices and never missed those things. Now after a rough patch in my personal life and a few days of 'harmless wallowing' all I can think about is chocolate.

I read something once on here that said "calm down and get a fill". Good advice I think!! Plus dealing with the psychological aspects of it. No easy task when there's serious emotional issues happening in your world, but we will get there!!
