Hi all

I've been stalking this site for nearly a year now, while I wait for my health insurance waiting period to end. I'm in Perth and was originally going to go with Dr. Watson at SJOG, but since reading these forums I now have a consultation with Dr. Dolan due to a smaller out of pocket expense. Although I think this site is amazing, and so informative, I'm now more confused about what I want to do!!

I've heard many negative stories about the band and now have discovered that many bandits are now opting for the sleeve! Now I'm thinking that may be the best option. Does anyone know if Dr. Dolan does the sleeve on patients under BMI 35? Maybe I just need some reassuring words from some Dr. Dolan's banded patients. Last year I was so sure I wanted to be banded, but now actually feeling a bit scared. Is this common?

Either way, I begin my weight loss journey in May and it can't get here quicker!

Try not to read into things too much.... My outlook is that if you are happy and positive with your decision all will be ok. And if something does go wrong it can be fixed.
Everyone is different and although we can share similar experiences good or bad you can't be scared of what may happen . It's the best decision I've ever made!

Please refer to your medical officer in regards to what you need and what you can afford.
Please weigh up all the pros and cons before making a decision,.
I would hate it if you made the wrong decision based on just the opinions of this site.
All we can do is encourage people with their decisions and provide support for colleagues as needed.

I wish you good luck on your journey. I see my surgeon tomorrow (in Vic) and will discuss both band and sleeve. Just make sure you decide what to do based on your surgeons advice and not that of the journeys of others. One thing I have learned from reading through the wonderful forums here is that everyone reacts indifferent ways and very few regret well informed choices.

Hi..I have to wait until January 2013 and I am researching both band and sleeve too..so keep me posted on Dr Dolan.
I would love to hear from any other bandits out there with opinions..experiences..thoughts.
I have been wanting the lap band for 3 yrs now.and finally took out PHI in Jan.I need to find a Dr/ clinic with little cost and would love to know someprices too so I can budget and save.I live in Tasmania at the mo. But willing to travel ..
