Townsville or Brisbane ??

Postby krysti » Mon May 25, 2009 4:12 am

Hi

I live in outback QLD and Im looking at getting banded at either Townsville or Brisbane. Are there any lapbanders here from either Townsville or Brisbane? I found the Brisbane Banders forum but have not found any info on Townsville support groups.

I'll be going private, and accessing my super to pay the gap.

Thanks

hello

i have just read your post and thought i would reply with what i know.

i am going to be banded in 3 weeks in cairns, thats were i live, when i was looking for a surgeon i made enquiries with cairns who only has one surgeon, townsville which from memory has 3 surgeons and brisbane but after many phone calls i found that it doesnt really matter because all surgeons are qualified and have before and after care specialists. i have had no problems with planning before and after op care, so i personally chose to stay local, the only thing you could probably consider is how far do you want to travel to see specialists and also how much time will it take you to go home after the op and what about the fills. what part of outback qld are you in.

Hello,

I am new to these forums, so hope i am replying correctly, I am new to lap Band surgery 6 weeks post Op. having someone locally for support would be awesome!. i have lost 5 kilos so far. I found it quite over whelming few weeks before and now still as its a new unknown world, but its a world i want to be right now, loosing weight and being healthing is very important, as my husband and i are starting IVF. it plays with your head a little so having someone around for love and support is very important, 6 weeks out i am now starting to experience pain in the port area i go back to my specialist next week to see why this is happening. Little things will pop up and it does scare you alittle but so far to date its been the best move i have ever made.

cheers
Shania
