Hi Marion
I am seeing Dr Wright. Have only had my first appt though. I am apparently a perfect candidate. My operation is the 6th of April, tuesday after Easter, i am very excited and nervous at the same time.

How do you find him?
You seem to be doing very well. I was wondering because i am new to this site where do you add your little graph at the bottom of your page to show others how you are tracking?

Hi Leigh ,

Welcome to the group....

How did you find us ?? Did Bronwyn the dietitian give you the link , I sent it to her and told her it was agreat site for moral support..

Well I only saw Doctor Wright once too, then the Op. and after...everything else has been done through Bronwyn, so as far as I found he was nice and my op. went fine so I am happy , I believe his assistant does the fills so I don`t really think we get to see him again unless there are problems (so I hope not to see him :D ).

Yes I am going great , I have been on blended foods for 2 weeks Monday and am seeing Bronwyn again then so hope to be eating normal foods then (in small amounts little bites lots of chewing ), I really don`t feel like I have got a band now , after the third day I was feeling fine , the first 3 days I was sore and pretty tired so did a lot of sleeping , after that things have been great....

Where are you beeing Banded ?? I was in WarnersBay Private I asked for there or Lake Macquarie as they are closer...

Here is the link to make your Ticker and you go to your control panel and add it to your signature section....

I guess you will be on your Optifast diet 2 weeks prior surgery and through Easter, I managed that o.k and lost a few kilo`s and have lost 1 kilo a week since the Op. I haven`t done any excersize yet and hope to start walking next week around the lake (weather permitting)..

Have a Nice weekend ..

Hi Marion
I found the group on Google when i was looking into having a lap band. Browyn didnt mention anything. I love the site though it shows me there is life after being banded and that it could be a life where i lose weight!

It is great to hear how well you are doing after your surgery. I am about to start my two weeks of Optifast and am not looking forward to it. I started it a week early but just had a normal meal of a night. By just doing this i have lost 3.6 already which is great. It was good when i had a normal meal to look forward to of a night but without that now i think i am going to be very hungry :|

I am looking forward to my new life after the band as well. My mother and sister spent all day yesterday letting me know the reasons why i shouldnt have a band. I think they are just scared because if it works for me it could be an option for them to help them lose weight.

I am having my op at Lingard. Not sure why it is just where Dr Wright has sent me.

Keep me updated with how you are going, it really helps

Talk soon

Hi Leigh !!

You will be fine on the optifast diet you can still have certain veggies and diet jellies did you get the list from Bronwyn or do you have another appointment...

I had the liquid breakie and I had a Optifast Muisli bar for lunch as I felt like I wanted to chew something and Bronwyn said that was fine...I missed my coffee....then I had the shake and veggies or sliced up bowl of tomato`s and salad stuff (I forget what was on the list ) and later in the evening I had a diet Jellie... You will do fine and will loose weight too...

I was scared right up to the day of the Op...once I was in hospital I just accepted I had made the decission and I was going to do it..... After I woke I thought MY GOD WHAT HAVE I DONE TO MYSELF , (I was told most go through the same thoughts) but those thoughts soon left me after about 3 days of feeling sore I was fine , now I have past the liquid and Mushie phase and am on NORMAL food I am loving my band ..

I eat cereal for breakie and cruskits or toast for lunch with a piece of fruit and a coffee 30 mins later , have whatever meal everyone else is having of a night but just a bread and butter size plate and I am NOT hungry at all, its great to feel I can have everything but in smaller portions..tonight we had Chinese I managed a spoon of rice half a dozen strips of mongolian lamb and 4 Garlic King Prawns ....everyone had a big plate and some had seconds I was still eating enjoying the taste not feeling like I was missing out and Full at the end ....

Be possitive you can do it ..I wish I had done it years ago instead of beeing a depressed unhappy person inside and to everyone else I was a jolly happy fat person (on the outside)....

Keep in touch and I wish you well with your pre Op diet and with the surgery ..

Marion..

P.S Dr Wright also wanted to book me into Lingard but I said I would prefer Lake Macquarie OR Warnersbay as they were close to home...so he booked me into Warnersbay....

HI Marion

Boy have i been missing my coffee. I actually am going ok though. I work for a chocolate company so that comes with its own challenges. Probably why i have put on so much weight in the first place.

It is great to hear that you are not hungry. I dont think i know what that actually feels like. It is also great to hear that you could have what other people are having, that was one of my fears with the band.

By the way your little birds are beautiful. We have a hand rised lorikeet and he is naughty as!

I had my operation done by Dr Wright on 30th June 2010 . Have been back to see Bronwyn today and am now on normal and not soft foods.Did not have my first fill today as I had lost 3.9 kg since last appointment. When does the first fill usually take place? Have lost 13 kg so far and I am feeling great, no problems so far.

I also did not get a fill on the 6 week visit as my weigh loss was good and I had restriction...but I did get one a month later, and another the month after that ...missed the last one last week but think I can still eat too much and my weight loss has slowed so I will be getting another one next visit I think...
Well done on your loss, its great isn`t it.. :P I think everyone is diffewrent as far as the fills go and Bronwyn is great if your loosing weigh and not feeling hungry between meals there is no need for a fill....she told me it can take 12 month to find the level that suits you its a individual thing...Isn`t it GREAT once you can start on normal food again ....just remember eat slowly and small bites chew well...
Nice to meet you ..WELCOME to the group and Congratulations on becoming a Bandit... :P

Hi Marion,
Thank you you so much for your prompt reply. It was 5 weeks yesterday since my banding and so far have not really felt hungry and if I have felt hungry would either have a hot or cold drink to give me that full feeling...That was over the weekend though when the weather was awful and I was restricted in what I could do and I guess boredom had started to set in..Bronwyn suggested to eat when I feel the hunger pangs.
My first "real" meal was dinner last night when I had a roast dinner, bread and butter plate size,I seemed to tolerate that but felt a bit over full and seemed to be full of wind.Is this normal?
Congratulations on your weightloss, that is a great effort. Keep up the good work!!!
Kind Regards
Wendy

Hi again Wendy....Mmmmmmmm well I never had the trouble with wind when I went onto normal foods but then everyone is different I wouldn`t worry about it and if you are worried about anything email or ring Bronwyn she is great and is contactable anytime...
Thats great you managed your roast dinner and if you get the signal that your full you don`t need to eat the whole plate of food (even though it is small )that has taken me a while to figure out ...I too try not to eat between meals and will have a glass of water or coffee/tea if extra hungry will have a crusket or a piece of fruit ..I peel my apples because I had a stuck feeling a few times when eating with the skin on , some times I can`t get through a full apple either ..I can manages a full sandwich and am full at the end of it..
Just remember small bites , eat slowly and chew well...

Best of luck ..
